Lady Gaga announced that she was canceling the rest of her "Born This Way Ball" tour because she needs surgery. Needless to say, Little Monsters the world over are devastated today, but no one more so than the singer herself. Her injury is one that could potentially change her career forever.
She has a labral tear in her right hip that was caused by strenuous, repetitive movement, and surgery is the only way to repair the problem. Though, don't expect her to be back on her feet right away. A rep said she will need plenty of time to recover.
At first Gaga didn't think she would be out of commission for so long, initially telling fans that she would just need to postpone a few concerts because of an injury she had been hiding. But the chronic pain was just too much for her to bear. Almost more important than her own health is her dedication to her fans, so the fact that she is stepping back indicates she was truly suffering. On her Facebook page, she asked her fans to forgive her, though "it is nearly impossible for me to forgive myself," she wrote.
It's especially sad to learn that this condition was caused by her doing what she does best: entertaining her adoring masses. Those repetitive dance movements and theatrics are what makes her shows so thrilling. I wonder if she will be able to get back to it once she heals. While fans wait to see, they can get refunds for their tickets. But more than the money, I am sure they hope to see Lady Gaga back to her outrageous routine soon.
Do you think this will affect the way Lady Gaga performs?
