Tonight on The Real Housewives of Atlanta, it was pretty much the first time all season we've been anything but appalled by new girl Kenya Moore. Up to this point, she's been a crazy, narcissistic troublemaker who has left us wondering if anyone could truly be that awful or if it's part of some big act. Tonight, however, things got real when she went in for a biopsy to check some lumps in her breasts for cancer.
She seemed genuinely terrified that she may have cancer, and also legitimately reflective on how she's been living her life to date. She said it made her think of life in a much bigger way. "I’m tired of all the drama," she said. "I’m tired of things that don't even matter." I'm guessing dressing up like Phaedra Parks as some sort of revenge would fall in that category?
Fortunately -- after the doctor dragged her diagnosis out way too long -- we learned that everything was fine with Kenya. Everything was benign, and she was proclaimed cancer-free ... for the time being. The doctor is still concerned about the areas and wants to check them again in six months, but as for now, it was a clean bill of health.
Since the doctor pointed out that stress can be a trigger for cancer, you have to wonder if this scare will be enough to scare Kenya away from all of the drama. Will we see a nicer, kinder Kenya? It's hard to imagine, but it's also hard to imagine someone going through something like this and not being changed in major ways by it. Time will tell, I suppose.
Meanwhile, there was a mini feud being waged between Cynthia Bailey and Porsha Stewart. I don't blame Cynthia for parting ways with her if she wasn't delivering when it came to her fashion show, but the way her staff (the Bailey Boys) treated Porsha was rude and totally unprofessional.
It may have been a tad extreme that Porsha wouldn't let Cynthia's employees come to her house because they're "strangers," but as a friend, Cynthia should have respected that instead of mocking her for it with her employees. And when the one dude started listing the rules of the agency for 'strangers' to Porsha (telling her she should listen more than talk), Cynthia absolutely should have stepped in and checked him. Somehow after Kordell Stewart ran some interference, all was well again with the ladies, but we'll see how long that lasts. Porsha said she'd forgive Cynthia, but she wouldn't forget how she made her feel. So who knows when that will erupt again.
And that was about it. It was a rather boring episode for the most part. The big fashion show is next week, and we know that won't be drama-free ... or at least we hope not.
Do you think this cancer scare will change the way Kenya Moore interacts with the other ladies?
