'Snooki & JWOWW' Recap: Snooki's Labor Was Terrifying

by Julie Ryan Evans on January 23, 2013 at 12:01 AM

SnookiTonight was the night we've been waiting for on Snooki & JWOWW, or at least almost the night. While there was the whole fake "dry run" labor they did for practice and laughs, that was followed much sooner than expected by the real deal -- Snooki was in labor.

Like plenty of first-time moms, she wasn't quite sure it was actual labor. Her mucus plug fell out, and then she started leaking, but there was no big gush of water. She and Jionni tried to stay calm, and they did some breathing exercises. But they were flat-out terrified ... just like most first-time parents are.

And hers was not one of those quick-and-easy labors either. Rather it was one of those long, drawn-out ones in which they send you home to kill time. "Lorenzo is definitely pissing me off," she said. "He’s still like chilling in my womb, and I don’t know why he doesn't want to come out."

She was in labor for more than 24 hours, and while she looked fabulous in her leopard-print gown and glammed-up makeup, she was truly scared.

A lot of her ditzy and outlandish behavior on Jersey Shore over the years has seemed to be done a bit for show to play her Snooki role, but when you're in labor and about to give birth, there's really no faking things. She was legitimately worried that she had to poop (which a lot of women are) even though the doctor kept reassuring her it was just the baby. And though there were no real complications, she was frightened in general.

"I'm scared," she kept saying. While Jionni was trying to be strong, you could tell he was too. The epidural seemed to help a little, but not much.

Roger and Jenni were there for much of it, and were sweet enough to put together some temporary baby furniture for them since their real stuff hadn't come yet. But in the end, when it was time for Lorenzo to finally make his entrance, it was just Snooki and Jionni waiting to meet their son.

Of course they cut off the episode just before that happened, so they can drag it out one more week. UGH! But as tough as the wait to finally see Lorenzo's entrance into the world has been for viewers, the wait was definitely even tougher for Snooki and Jionni.

Were you surprised by how scared Snooki was?

I felt for her. Nothing prepares you for your first baby, no amount of classes, books, etc. When I realized it was almost time to push, I had a massive panic attack. I thought "I'm not ready for this!". Obviously all that went away as soon as I held him, but I admit I was terrified. Not of the pain, but realizing I was about to become responsible for another living being who was completely dependent on me.

Her labor sounds much easier than my first. I was only 19 and in labor for 2 and a half DAYS. She's obviously got a low pain tolerance.

I don't like her either, but I can sympathize with anyone in labor!

Doesnt have to do with pain tolerance. My labor with my second was 1.5 hours from start to finish. It was AWFUL and I have a high pain tolerance. I hated her on Jersey Shore but I am really liking her in the mother role. Any woman who has given birth should sympathize to ANYONE in labor. I had a that poor girl look on my face the whole time. Matter of fact my husband commented on it he asked if I was having flashbacks.

Even if you planned to have a child, or not, labor is scary. You just honestly have no idea what could happen, and your entire life is about to change!
