Jennifer Lopez Makes Shocking Confession About Her Much Younger Boyfriend

jennifer lopez people coverTruth be told, I've never thought of Jennifer Lopez as a particularly open celeb. I've interviewed her a couple times in the past and I always thought her anecdotes were a bit, well, rehearsed. To be fair, each time we chatted, it was on the eve of some new movie or CD being released, so she probably expected the typical fluff piece. She wasn't wrong. But after reading her recent cover story in People, I was very pleasantly surprised by her confession about her romance with boyfriend Casper Smart. You probably will be too!

We've all eyed her romance with that much, much younger man warily. But it's not just the fact that he's 18 years younger that makes us go, "Hmmmm?" He's a backup dancer and she's, well, she's J.Lo. Sadly, it's hard not to be cynical about those kinds of pairings. But I was amazed to hear that Jenny herself is worried about the romance's staying power:

I ask him, "Why don't you go find a young girlfriend and get out of here? What do you want with me?" And you think, "How long is this gonna be?" You think, "Okay, in 10 years I'm going to be like this and you're going to be like that" and ... men at that age are ... I think all different things. The truth is we don't know what's going to happen. We're loving this moment right now. We make each other happy.

Impressive admission, right? Most stars are just too caught up in their own hype to keep it real and be honest about their fears and vulnerabilities. She even opened up about those headline-grabbing, scandal-plagued relationships from her past. You may remember she dated P. Diddy but broke things off shortly after they both landed in jail after a club shooting incident. Then there was Ben Affleck. They almost made it to the altar before calling that fiasco off. She added:

I don't regret those things -- that's who I am. But at least now I'm at a point where I have to recognize that these choices and things that happen are partly because of me and my decisions and I have to be more careful. So I am being more careful.

I think a lot of women can be inspired by that. Who hasn't made a huge relationship mistake at some point or another? Jenny may not exactly be from our block, but we can relate to her now more than ever.

Are you surprised or impressed by J.Lo's admission?

She seems like the kind of woman who can't be alone, she always needs a man by her side. Being the mom of twins who hasn't been separated from their father for very long I'd think taking alone time and focusing on her family would be more of a priority than dating.

I don't know, I personally wouldn't want to date somebody I couldn't see myself with in 10 years. Think about it: in 10 years he'll be 35 and she'll be 53. It just seems like more heartbreak in the making. Why not invest in a mate you'll have a future with?

Double standard. what's good for the goose ain't so for the gander.

Why are cougars more eyebrow raising than dirty-old-men? Hogwash! Balderdash!

Truth is, as long as both parties are of legal age, they need not explain to anyone their dating business. Quite simply, it's none of anybody else' business. Period!

I wish J-Lo all the happiness there is out there. Go girl!

Really the age does not matter look at how many people separate. we can be the same age and only be together a few years. so be happy while we can....
