Stop the presses, people -- because it looks like there may be trouble in paradise for real. According to a new rumor in The Sun, Robert Pattinson has dumped Kristen Stewart. Yes -- Rob may have kicked Kristen to the curb, and there's a chance their relationship is really over this time.
A source says, "She [Kristen] flew to L.A. and was supposed to be Rob’s date for the Golden Globes, but he told her he wants to cool it off. He loves her but would rather go back to being good friends so they can rebuild their trust and focus on work after Twilight."
OMG. This is huge, you guys. And wait -- there's more.
Apparently Kristen isn't even freaking out over the alleged "dumpage." An insider says, "Kristen’s upset but she understands. She shouldn’t have pushed him to reconcile after her infidelity. She’s hoping he’ll come round and time will be a great healer. He was getting so much pressure to ditch her. His friends told him to focus on his career and said she was wrecking his chances."
Huh. I guess that's a typical KStew response, you know, going the mature, "I don't give a shit" route.
Ok, ok, so I know a breakup hasn't been confirmed by either of them or anything, but will it really be a huge shock to anyone if Robsten has officially called it quits?
More from The Stir: Robert Pattinson Goes to Golden Globes Without Kristen Stewart
I mean, a split has been inevitable ever since Rob took Kristen back after she cheated on him with Rupert Sanders. And even though everyone makes mistakes and Kristen is truly sorry for what she did, if Rob really did dump her, all I can say is, "Good for him -- and it's about damn time."
Like many people, I was a bit puzzled as to why Rob took Kristen back in the first place. And if this new report is true and he really has ended things with her once and for all, then I have a theory about why he wasn't ready to let go the first time. It's because he needed true closure on their relationship, and he needed to be the one to decide whether to officially end it -- not her.
If he broke up with her, it put him back in the driver's seat, so he knows that moving on is something he genuinely wants to do because he knows she isn't the right person for him. Instead of being left to wonder if they could've made things work had she not cheated, he knows that going their separate ways is what's best for both of them in the long run.
Of course, considering how long these two have been together, it's kind of hard to imagine them really being done for good. (And if they ever happen to co-star in another film together, we can expect a miraculous reconciliation for sure.)
Do you think Rob and Kristen are really over, or is this just a rumor?
