Given Britney Spears' taste in men, historically speaking (with the exception of Justin Timberlake, of course), I just sort of assumed that her latest split, from now-former fiance/agent/conservator Jason Trawick, was somehow Trawick's fault -- that he was just another sleazy dude looking to make a quick buck and Spears was too stupid lovestruck to see the truth.
But now I'm not so sure. Trawick has reportedly signed a confidentially agreement, so we're not getting too many clues about the breakup straight from THE source. But various "sources" close to the couple are speaking up about who really called off the engagement and why ... and maybe Trawick isn't such a bad guy after all.
According to an insider, Trawick's had one foot out the door for quite some time, but he's been "very stressed and concerned for Britney and what she might do if he left. He is worried about her and really loved her, but it started to take a real toll on him. The burden of taking care instead of a partnership where she also takes care."
"It was exhausting for Jason and not the way he wanted to live his life. But this is best for both of them."
Well, it's definitely starting to sound like this is best for Trawick, who could probably use a nice vacation on an island all by himself somewhere at this point. But what about Britney? Is it really best for her to be back under the sole conservation (or whatever you'd call it) of her dad? Maybe she's not ready to take care of herself yet, but who else is up for the job?
Do you think Jason Trawick was really trying to take care of Britney Spears?
