Bethenny Frankel Says Divorce Makes Her Feel Like a Failure & We Sympathize (VIDEO)

Love & Learn 5

bethennyNow that it's out that Bethenny Frankel has filed for divorce, it's time to start talking about it. The divorce has been all over the tabloids, but she's been pretty quiet about it up until now. On Wednesday Bethenny appeared on Ellen to talk about the divorce. And before she even opened her mouth, you could see her getting emotional. She told Ellen she doesn't really care about the tabloids. It's more that, "I feel like a bit of a disappointment to all of you, and I feel like a failure."

Ellen will have none of that! "You are not!" she blurts out almost like a reflex. It's what any of us would say. It's definitely what I thought -- no, Bethenny, you're not a failure! But I've thought about it a little more, and I've realized Bethenny doesn't need to hear that she's not a failure. It's actually healthy for her to admit she feels that way.

Bethenny went on to talk about the responsibility she feels as a public person to be open and honest about her divorce -- even the bad parts. "I can't only be on reality TV and show everything when it's just the fairy tale and not take my hits when they come." She admits that the future is scary. She says she hadn't really thought about being a role model. But seeing her fans' response to her divorce (the supportive, the bad, and the ugly) has made her realize that what she does now matters. She needs to deal with her divorce with grace and dignity because people are watching her.

It's so like Bethenny to turn this into an opportunity -- and I say that affectionately. Right now, thousands of other people who are paying attention are also going through a divorce (me!). And we know that you can't be Superwoman and just power through it in a state of denial, even if you think you're trying to stay positive. You do have to acknowledge those dark, sad feelings so you can truly move on.

So yeah, Bethenny feels like a failure. It's normal to feel that way in the middle of a divorce. And it's amazing how saying that out loud suddenly makes you feel a whole lot better.

She is brave for admitting that it feels like a failure because I think that is the natural reaction. I felt that way with my first mattuage's demise, even though I was powerless to change it. I feel bad for her and Jason. I have watched her/them and am a fan, but who knows what it was really like for them in their marriage. I hope they can each find happiness and peace and remain amicable for Bryn.

I really like Bethenny for her straight forward and honest attitude especially towards Kelly who in my opinion was vile, disgusting and a narcissist. Bethenny did everything she could on that programme where Kelly had her meltdown to diffuse Kelly but right on track Kelly was not capable of seeing that. Chin up Bethenny you are a great person and I sincerely hope things work out for you. It's a shame you. Opulent work things out with your husband, never say never!!

I loved her interview on Ellen, she was so devastated, I think she really worked hard on her marriage but she is the perfect example of a very succesful woman and Jason's ego just couldn't keep up.
I agree, it is good to acknowledge those feelings of devastation, before start healing you have to drain out all the poison and be able to feel that there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
Bethenny is dealing with what million of women deal on a daily basis and it is good to know that even such a powerhouse and strong woman has all these feelings when dealing with divorce.

Bethenny Frankel should feel like a failure. She has failed at the one committed relationship that should have mattered - her marriage to Jason Hoppy.
