If you've been wondering exactly what "just bein' Miley" entails these days, well, Miley Cyrus recently tweeted this pic of herself driving around with an anatomically correct blow-up doll, so, that's what. Said the 20-year-old pop culture phenom: "Does this count for the carpool lane? Such a nice Xmas gift."
Ah yes, so very nice. One might even call a blow-up doll the "gift that keeps on giving." Unfortunately Miley doesn't say who, specificially, gave her the lovely present. (Fiancé Liam Hemsworth, perhaps?) But personally, I think Miley bought the dang thing herself, just so she could take and tweet the pic. For "shock value." Because frankly, the girl is running out of ways to "shock" her fans.
I mean, I get it. The whole thing makes perfect sense, really: Miley is essentially going through a belated adolescent rebellion phase. Usually this type of thing -- the bad hair/fashion choices, the raunchy, look-at-me! public behavior -- would occur during one's early teen years, but Miley didn't have that luxury, so to speak, as a kid.
Imagine how Disney might have reacted if Miley shaved most of her hair off and bleached the rest of it when she was still contractually obligated to be Hannah Montana! Sweet Niblets! Or grabbed her crotch onstage or dressed like a hooker or squeezed herself a nice big handful of bare stripper bottom?
I think it's safe to say Disney would have been very, very disappointed. (And I shudder to think what happens to those who dare to disappoint The Mouse ... for some reason I keep picturing Miley handcuffed to one of those little boats being forced to ride "It's a Small World" for all eternity.) Anyway, point is, Miley Cyrus didn't get to screw up as a kid because she had a job, and now that she never has to work another day in her life, she's hell-bent on recapturing all of the oh-so-shocking opportunities she missed. Only it's not working.
Miley Cyrus needs to either give up this particular ghost or buckle down and venture into Lindsay Lohan territory: Addiction, shoplifting, gypsy-punching, etc. (Now that's a girl who "can't be tamed.")
Do you think Miley Cyrus should quit trying to shock everybody?
