'50 Shades of Grey' Movie May Have Channing Tatum Playing a Part You'd Never Dream Of

by Mary Fischer on December 21, 2012 at 2:25 PM

Channing TatumWhen he announced that he's planning on taking some time off from acting for a bit, most of us assumed we could forget Channing Tatum playing Christian Grey in the Fifty Shades of Grey movie.

I, for one, was a bit disappointed with the news, because he's a major piece of eye candy and I'd have absolutely no problem staring at his chiseled muscles and rock-hard body thrusting all over Anastasia Steele for a good two hours or so. (Whew. Is it hot in here?)

But after hearing that he and wife Jenna Dewan-Tatum are expecting their first child, it's understandable that Channing would want to take a step back from acting for a bit. Although that doesn't necessarily mean he won't be a part of the Fifty Shades of Grey movie.

A list of possible Fifty Shades of Grey movie directors has emerged, and yes, Channing Tatum made the cut. OMG. Now that he's becoming a dad, it's the perfect time for him to give directing a try, don't you think? He'd probably have a lot more time with Jenna and the baby too.

He managed to snag the number four spot as far as favorite potential directors go, and here's how the entire list worked out. (In case you're curious as to who else is on it.)

  1. Angelina Jolie
  2. Mark Wahlberg
  3. Steven Soderbergh (Magic Mike)
  4. Channing Tatum
  5. Gary Marshall (Pretty Woman)
  6. Nick Cassavetes (The Notebook)
  7. Paul Greengrass (Bourne movies)
  8. Gary Ross (Hunger Games)
  9. Robert Luketic (Legally Blond)
  10. Catherine Hardwicke (Twilight)
  11. Jason Reitman (Juno)

Who do you think would make the perfect director for Fifty Shades of Grey?

Ctherine Hardwicke, definetly. She made as all love Bella and Edward in such a poetic way. If not, Angelina Jolie is a good choice. The movie can only be directed by a woman that feels the books.

Uh, " it's the perfect time for him to give directing a try, don't you think? He'd probably have a lot more time with Jenna and the baby too."

Do you know what a director is? *facepalm*

Angelina would be a very interesting choice. I love that idea. Please Please Please, not Catherine Hardwicke. Her directing in the first Twilight was terrible. It was all in blue hues and the angles left a lot to be desired. I don't think her skill level was up to that big of a movie. As for the writer of this article saying Channing would have more time with his growing family by being a directer, obviously doesn't understand what a director is and how much time they spend with the movie, start to end. Post-production and pre-production, off camera work and all that. I have no clue as to the details, but even I know that statement was way off.

NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE NO!!!! He's cute but he barely speaks in his other movies!! "Christian Grey" is an artist when he speaks. He's smart and poetic. We need someone that speaks suave and speaks other languages, fluently. We need a new face. Please, NOT CHANNING TATUM!!!!!

My first pick is Ryan Gosling. If Christian Grey were a gangster, then obviously my first choice would be Channing Tatum.
