Temptations Version of 'Silent Night' Belongs at Top of Every Christmas Playlist (VIDEO)

by Julie Ryan Evans on December 24, 2012 at 9:01 AM

The TemptationsA couple of years ago I was making a Christmas playlist to set the mood for tree trimming, cookie baking, and all of the other fun festivities that come along with the season. I started asking around for suggestions as to what to add, and hands down the most frequent and enthusiastic response was The Temptations version of "Silent Night."

Everyone said it would give me chills and be the best version I'd ever heard. I was skeptical (there are a lot of great versions out there), but oh how right there were. It is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard, Christmas or otherwise. There's a flawless falsetto and just so much feeling put into it. Truly, I've never heard a better version. Listen and watch a video of them performing it after the jump, and prepare to be wowed.

Amazing right?

Others on my diverse list include:

"Christmas Lights" by Coldplay -- to change things up a bit:

"I'll Be Home for Christmas" by Doris Day -- this one makes me cry every year, especially those in which I don't make it back to my hometown to be with my family. Sniff.

"The Little Drummer Boy" by Frank Sinatra -- It's my very favorite Christmas carol, and no one does it like Frank.

"Go Tell It on the Mountain" by James Taylor -- Love. Love. Love.

What are your all-time favorite Christmas songs?

The word is out Jesus Christ is a black man who was hung on a tree. Why did mankind hang black men on trees? No man will be honest, because of the pride of life. The apple of his eye is him Satan, his mark is on the dollar bill. Mankind calls himself the eye.
