I have no shame in admitting that I have a terribly large, unabashed girl crush on Emilia Clarke ever since watching her play Daenerys Targaryen on Game of Thrones. Even though season 3 seems like decades away (it'll premiere on March 31, 2013), Emilia gave us our daily dose of nerd when she appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live the other night. And it just reaffirmed my girl crush on her that much harder. Kind of wish she rocked that blonde wig during this interview, though.
Emilia had a very candid and charming chat with Jimmy, talking about all the nudity in season one (and how she told her parents about it!), what it was like eating a horse heart, and more about what to expect in season 3. Of course, she couldn't give too much away -- no spoilers for the next season ahead -- but that doesn't mean we're any less pumped for Game of Thrones to come back on our television screens.
Many of you may not know that Clarke got this awesome job right out of drama school. How lucky can a girl get? But then imagine having to go tell your parents about getting hired by HBO ... and admitting that you're gonna have to be nude on screen. A lot. She revealed how she first told her parents about the numerous sex scenes: "It was the kind of thing that I told my mum and then my mum kind of told my dad ... with me being nowhere near."
Yeah, I don't think I'd have the guts to tell my dad about that one, either.
She then went on to admit that, if you're the type who's watching Game of Thrones for the nudity (really?), you can expect some more of that in season 3 (yay?). On top of that, Clarke said Daenerys is going to turn much more badass and we'll see her character fighting a lot more. Nothing like a mom protecting her, uh, baby dragons ...
And she helped bring us back to the oh so fond, somewhat gross memories from season 1. She talked about eating that "horse heart" and said that it tasted almost like a "gummy bear" -- could have been much worse, right? But unfortunately, it was so sticky that after filming a scene, she accidentally got stuck to the toilet.
Haha she's so awesome.
Anyway, if you want to watch this interview for yourself (of course you do!), here's part 1:
And part 2:
You're welcome! Now let's go back to staring at our March 31, 2013 countdowns.
Are you excited for Game of Thrones season 3? Is Daenerys one of your favorite characters?
