Remember that super-amazing totally healthy not weird at all relationship Demi Moore had going with her 26-year-old art dealer boyfriend Vito Schanbel? Well, rumor has it that we won't be hearing wedding bells any time soon, because in a completely shocking and not remotely predictable move, Schnabel has called things off.
In the end, it sounds like it wasn't necessarily the age difference that tanked this burgeoning relationship. Apparently, the breakup had less to do with their May-December status, and more to do with Moore's public behavior.
Now, personally I don't think there was anything wrong with 50-year-old Moore shacking up with a man half her age. She looks freaking amazing, she's a free agent -- who cares who she's spending her time with? If she were a man, most of America would be giving her a high-five -- not eye-rolling Demi for not acting her age, and referring to her lover as a "boy toy."
But it kinda seems like Moore has some lingering issues going on, right? The problem isn't really that she's not staying home needlepointing, it's that her ongoing partying makes her look out of control. Sure, that photo of her caught in the middle of what appears to be the Elaine Dance from Seinfeld could have just been snapped at an awkward moment, but it's like when we hear about Lindsay Lohan pulling yet another all-nighter. You don't get the feeling either one of these rehab queens are engaged in healthy social activities, is all I'm saying.
Anyway, according to the New York Post, Schnabel broke things off with Demi last week after her wild behavior in Miami:
Vito wasn’t too happy that Demi flew down to party at Art Basel while he was working to build his business. It was a distraction he didn’t need while all the big collectors were in town.
Schnabel was also reportedly sick of the tabloids' newfound interest in him:
Vito has worked very hard to be taken seriously in the art business, and doesn’t want to be seen as somebody who dates celebrities. He hated having photographers follow him around after word got out about him and Demi.
Who knows what really happened behind closed doors between these two, but I'm hardly surprised by the idea that it wasn't built to last. Then again, maybe neither one of them had any intention of making it more than a fling to begin with.
Either way, it looks to me like Demi Moore might need to slow down for a bit before she crashes and burns ... but something tells me she's not really in control of her own impending trainwreck.
Are you surprised Demi Moore and Vito Schnabel are already kaput?
