Sorry, ladies. Bad news for you out there who had dreams of marrying Robert Pattinson. He's now officially off the market thanks to a young girl named Lauren Adkins -- she and RPattz will get married in January in a private ceremony in Vegas. In case you're wondering what Kristen Stewart thinks of the whole thing, well, she's probably cool with it, seeing as Lauren isn't marrying the real Robert Pattinson, but a cardboard cutout of him as Edward Cullen from Twilight.
And you thought you were obsessed. Girlfriend, please.
Lauren insists that she's an artist and that this performance piece is the culmination (Cullenation?) of her Masters in Fine Arts Degree. She was able to raise over $1,200 for the fake wedding to a fake person and has promised her supporters that the nuptials, while privately held in a chapel, will be broadcast on the Internet for everyone to enjoy.
So ... what's her point?
This work focuses on the female escapist fantasy in its most popular forms-- primarily finding "true love"-- and the extent to which it seeps into our real lives ... Because of personal attachment to and experience with this fantasy or quest, which took a particularly strong hold of me when I discovered the intensely popular Twilight Saga, my thesis is going to touch on romantic expectation primarily through the main love interest, Edward Cullen.
Well, then. A little bit obsessive, a little bit real, and a little bit avant garde, Lauren's art piece sure sounds like an interesting excuse to throw herself a wedding and get married to her fantasy.
And the fact that she was able to raise as much money as she did signifies that there are probably a lot of people out there who identify with her fairytale dream wedding ... I mean, thesis.
If Lauren's point was to blend true life and make-believe into one weird-ass exhibit in which she marries a piece of cardboard, then I'd like to go ahead and deem this a rip-roaring success because, honestly, I have no idea what's real anymore.
And I don't know who's crazier for it. Lauren, her donators, me, or poor paper Robert.
What do you think of this "art exhibit"?

Wow. This is distrurbing and incredibly sad.
Well its no different then that one lady who married the Liberty Bell, a bunch of different guys around the world, ect (in case your wondering, she was on an episode of Cake Boss where she had Buddy and his team make her a cake for her final wedding.) So I say, you only have one life you might as well live it the way you want to, even if its just for a school project.
I know that there are some crazy people out there but honestly I think she is just doing it for attention. Maybe she thinks she will be that over the top fan who Rob will wanna meet just because she is over the top.
This is no big deal. We had the same cut out at our The End Party. He was our special guest. As you know getting the real thing is impossible. He's pretty untouchable. This joke I guess is better than the made up stories. But this is a no story, story.
