‘Real Housewife’ Brandi Glanville Gives Surprisingly Good Marriage Advice (VIDEO)

Brandi GlanvilleBrandi Glanville of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills may SEEM like the last person anyone would take relationship advice from. She is, after all, divorced and has practically admitted to sleeping with all of Beverly Hills (WTF?), but actually, the woman with the potty mouth with no filter dishes out some sound relationship advice.

She tells Celebuzz: "Be an Individual First." After 13 years of marriage, she came out of her marriage with no credit, no money, and no property. Her father had to co-sign a loan for her.

It's really good advice. As someone who also got married young and has now been married almost a decade, I would tell anyone the same thing. You cannot count on anything lasting forever. Even your marriage. See below:

It's a sad fact that marriages end. Obviously when you enter into it, you don't expect it will be yours. You always think your marriage will go the distance and last. But what if it doesn't?

Or maybe your marriage DOES last, but he falls ill or you do or, god forbid, one of your kids does? What if you need money and skills and credit? It isn't a matter of betting on your marriage failing, but one of being prepared. Not everything in life is easy and you can't possibly know ahead of time what life will bring you. So yes, be an individual. Know you can care for yourself and your family.

In the end, two strong individuals make a better family than one person who handles everything and multiple dependents. It also makes for a better marriage.

Men respect women who stand their ground and know themselves, who make their own destiny and can stand on their own two feet. It's just a fact. And women respect men who do the same.

All the best marriages I see have that dynamic. A strong individual married to another strong individual make good marriages and good families. Brandi wants to help others not make the same mistake she did. So good for her.

Let's heed this.

Do you think this makes the best marriage?

1. He screwed up their marriage not her so I believe she is fit to give advice and opinion. She knows how her marriage should've worked and learned a valuable lesson.

2. I used to think some women were nuts for going to a university just to graduate, marry and stay at home. That degree may have to be put to good use one day. Working in life insurance I've witnessed too many widows that thought the husbands would live for eternity leaving wives with no skills or means to support their family.
