It's official! Former Bachelorette Ashley Hebert and J.P. Rosenbaum are married, making them one of the very few success stories to ever come out of the Bachelor franchise. (Take that, haters!)
Poor Ashley got a lot of unnecessary criticism after being on the show because some fans thought she was too boring, too chipper and bubbly, too perfect -- or some combination of all three. But love her or hate her, Ashley is now married to one seriously sexy dude, all thanks to having the opportunity to find true love on TV.
And if you can't wait to tune into the Ashley and J.P. Wedding Special, which will air on ABC on December 16th (please excuse me while I go set my DVR), here are some of the details from the big bash -- yes, it was just as perfect as you'd expect, and then some.
The ceremony was held at the Langham Hotel in Pasadena, California, and (wait for it) -- Bachelorette host Chris Harrison served as the officiant. (Cute or tacky? I think it's pretty cute.)
Ashley and J.P. paid tribute to their heritage by standing under a huppah (J.P.'s Jewish), and then there was a Celtic knot ceremony where both of their moms tied their wrists together and said a prayer. (Very Fifty Shades, minus the prayer bit.)
Ok, get ready -- here comes the only gag-worthy part of the event. According to a wedding attendee, the happy couple couldn't wait to swap spit as husband and wife. The guest said, "They came really close to kissing several times during the ceremony. But they were able to wait… barely… until they were pronounced man and wife."
(Um, awww?) That part sounds a little bit cheesy, even for Ashley and J.P.
But while the overly romantic thing definitely makes me roll my eyes, there were a couple aspects of the wedding that were so cute and meaningful, even I got a kick out of hearing about them.
Ashley and J.P.'s dog, Boo, was in attendance, and he even got to sit in the front row. (Love it.)
And their wedding song was so adorable and fitting, I really can't say anything bad about it. They danced their first dance as husband and wife to Elvis' "Fools Rush In." C'mon, isn't that the most perfect song ever considering how they met?
And that brings us to the menu (because everyone always wants to know how the food was.) Guests got to choose from either chicken, English peas, and mashed potatoes or beets and risotto. (Where's the beef?)
But that still leaves me with one question -- were cupcakes served at the wedding or not? (Do I really have to wait till the 16th to find out?)
