Whoever said prison is no fun? Okay, probably a lot of people, but clearly prisoners have their moments once in awhile as a group of inmates in Bangkok, Thailand did when they went "Gangnam Style" in honor of singer Psy's visit to Thailand.
According to ABC, it was his first show in Asia outside South Korea, and the country was clearly psy-ched -- including those behind bars. About 70 inmates from the Bangkok Remand prison participated, as the guards looked on and grooved to the tune as well. They're on board with inmates devoting time to the dancing because they say it provides them with exercise and helps them relieve stress, and probably because they're pretty fun to watch too. Watch after the jump.
It's amazing just how far and wide this song has spread so fast. Just this past weekend Psy bumped Justin Bieber down and took the crown for the all-time YouTube most-viewed record. The song has racked up about 826 million views, with an average of 7 to 10 million watching it a day.
So yeah, it's not like a little barbed wire can get in the way of that. We've seen plenty of other reenactments of the song from Navy hunks to babies; there are even "Gangnam" Christmas lights. But there's just something about prisoners that makes it even more gawk-worthy.
As odd as it may be, this isn't the first the group of prisoners that have gone "Gangman." Last month we saw a group of 1,000 from a prison in the Philippines doing a similar routine. So maybe it's becoming kind of a thing?
It's also fitting that I feel like I'm IN prison as I'm trapped in minivan with my children who demand I play the damn song over and over and over ... Oppan!
Are you sick of "Gangnam Style" yet?
