Most of us can probably agree that the first Hunger Games movie was actually pretty fantastic. Those who loved the books were pleased, and those new to the entire world of Panem were able to follow along as well. Jennifer Lawrence was a kickass Katniss Everdeen and able to carry the entire franchise on her shoulders, unlike, well, Kristen Stewart with that whole Twilight Saga thing.
They're currently spinning movie magic to create the second one, set to release next November 22, 2013. And some new production photos have come out to make us even more excited for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. Naturally, the second book encompasses many more characters, putting them all in the arena yet again because of the "Quarter Quell": an event that occurs every 25th year of the Games -- giving the Capitol a reason to introduce a "twist" to this deadly contest.
There are some mild spoilers ahead for those who haven't read Catching Fire. Fair warning!
Well, let's just talk about the photo above for a second. For those of you who've read the books, you know that Finnick Odair, the hottie from District 4, and his mentor, 80-year-old Mags, are both back in the arena, and they team up with Katniss for a short while. So glad we finally get to see what Finnick and Mags look like in character! Plus, I'm pretty sure that's a glimpse of Finnick's trident, and it's nice to see Katinss decked out with her bow and arrows yet again.
If you'll also remember, Mags is actually one of the first people that Katniss looks to as an ally, while everyone else thinks she's nuts because Mags is, well, 80 years old. For Sex and the City fans, it may hard to separate Mags from Magda, Miranda's Ukrainian housekeeper/nanny, but I think she'll do just fine. From all these photos, she's looking like she's holding her own with all the youngins.

Those who've read the books probably know which moment this is! Jennifer probably had to be in tip-top shape for this movie. The actors probably weren't too thrilled with all the water work they had to do in this second film, but photos like these look amazing so far. Even more have come out from Hawaii, with all the main actors shooting the first major battle scene. It's stuff like this that makes you ache to work in the movies! Since the first chapter did so well, this one is probably expected to reach even more people and a higher level of success, and I for one can't wait!

Can't wait! I read all three books in 3 days last year!
I was very disappointed with the first movie. They did not capture Peeta and Katniss's relationship at all. And that is a huge part of the trilogy. I hope this director nails this book! Peeta and Katniss get close in this book:) Wish they wouldn't wait so long to release the movies... And this was my Fav book so I have high hopes!
The first one sucked, people are so easy to buy into anything someone says is good. The acting sucked, the plot is not original at all, and there is nothing that could drag me to see this garbage.
Leah, did you actually read the books or just go see the movie?
