I don't know about y'all, but I'm totally looking forward to Lindsay Lohan's upcoming Lifetime movie Liz & Dick. It's got to be craptacular. I figure I will probably be able to watch at least 15 minutes of it, and if it's truly crapasstacular, I may go half an hour. One of the first reviews of the film has come out and -- surprise! -- it sounds pretty lame. In fact, it doesn't even sound so bad you have to watch it bad, it just sounds kind of so bad you have to have it on in the background while you busy yourself with other things bad.
The reviewer, The Daily News' David Hinckley, cuts Lindsay some slack while not exactly praising her either. He writes:
It's tempting to say the movie's big problem is that Lohan is no Liz Taylor. And she isn't -- though that's not entirely her fault. There aren't all that many actresses, or women, who can stop a room simply by walking into it ... She could make men melt. Lindsay Lohan's Taylor does not.
Well, LiLo might stop a room but probably not for the same reasons Elizabeth Taylor did. Liz was an otherworldly beautiful woman. LiLo is kind of otherworldly, but in more of a "What planet do you come from?" way. Watching the "behind the scenes" video of Liz & Dick, I was again struck by how much Lindsay has altered her face -- and I don't just mean the heavy Liz-like makeup. I mean whatever she's done behind the scenes to her appearance. She looks much older than her age, and her features are almost completely different from what they were even five years ago. Why, Lindsay, why??!!
Like some other actresses who have overindulged on the facial fillers, Botox, and implants, Lindsay's appearance draws all of the attention away from her acting. (Not to mention that her scratchy voice is nothing like Liz's nasally one.)
Still, none of this will stop me from taking a peek at the movie when it premieres November 25. And I'm not ashamed to say it. Well, actually, I am rather ashamed. But oh well.
Will you watch Liz & Dick?
