‘Trashy’ Honey Boo Boo Portrait Isn’t Insulting, It’s Beautimus! (VIDEO)

by Adriana Velez on November 16, 2012 at 5:43 PM

honey boo booOh my door nuts! A mosaic artist named Jason Mecier just created the perfect work of art: A portrait of Honey Boo Boo made out of junk. Could there BE a more fitting medium for all things Honey Boo Boo? Some may call her trashy, but we know a treasure when we see her.

Needless to say the Honey Boo Boo junk portrait is most beautimus, all "glitzy" and glammy. Just like Alana at a pageant! You'd better redneckognize -- Mecier spent 50 hours creating this thing. And you can watch it all in this video.

Mecier used about 25 pounds of trash and found objects to make this portrait -- and as you'll see in the video, it's huge. He was even thoughtful enough to include a bunch of Honey Boo Boo-related objects in the portrait:

Highlights include two cans of hair spray, three tiaras, make-up, mascara, fake eyelashes, coupons, sketti, butter, ten cheese balls, two Red Bulls, one Mountain Dew, a McDonald's chicken nugget, a pink Snuggy box, an empty toilet paper roll, one cabbage patch doll and a jar of Pigs Feet. No roadkill was injured during the making of this portrait!

The man knows his Thompson family, right? And I love that the soundtrack to the video is a series of classic Alana quotes in her own voice. Only thing missing here is a little pig running around the studio!

You know what? I started out a hater. It's true. But Honey Boo Boo and family just won me over with their good-naturedness, their frankness, and especially Mama June's delicious way with words. And somehow, this crazy portrait just makes me like them more. I mean, that's one of the things America does best -- we take what others might consider "junk" and we make magic out of it. Like this guy! Watch.

What do you think of the Honey Boo Boo Child portrait?

I like it. It's very interesting and pop arty. I don't understand why people take so much joy in trashing a little girl. We all said and did ridiclous things as kids the difference is she's on tv and that was her mother's choice not hers.

The terrifying part is that the pieces used to make the portrait are not far removed from their everyday lives... seriously. I just can't anymore with the friggin Mountain Dew for a child. This is why parenting needs to require licensure
