Something funky has got to be in the water over in Eastern Europe, because the Ukrainian singer Aza has to be sippin' something funny to think that Carly Rae Jepsen is ripping her off. Apparently the Real Housewives castmember lookalike is filing a lawsuit in Los Angeles, saying that "Call Me Maybe" is a carbon copy of her song "Hunky Santa." The singer told TMZ that she's "shocked and surprised ... they didn't ask me for permission, they just took it. When I first heard it ... I was driving and almost got into an accident."
Are you sure it wasn't because your ginormous boobs were in the way of your steering wheel? Give me a break, lady. Is "Hunky Santa" actually serious? It's NOTHING like "Call Me Maybe." Your song comes on, and I want to rip my eyes out. Carly's song comes on, and as much as I hate to admit this -- I get excited.
All right. Let's skip the BS and just take a little listen together, yes?
First up, the good ol' Billboard charts topper, "Call Me Maybe":
And now Aza's "Hunky Santa":
What's that? You hear crickets too? As far as I can see, the only similarity between the two videos is that Aza tells this half-naked man that looks NOTHING like Santa to give her a call. If THAT's why "Call Me Maybe" is a ripoff, then, shoot -- I can think of a handful of songs Aza herself "copied." "Santa Baby," anyone?
There's no similarity in the beats, no similarity in the tune, no similarities really ... at all. Final verdict: Aza is delusional (just like her Housewives twinsies) and I apologize for putting you through that. Go ahead, buy yourself an extra Christmas present on me.
Do you think this woman's lost her mind?
