Clueless Madonna Audience Boos Her For Being Obama Supporter

Eye Roll 67

MadonnaSo much for Madonna trying to rally people to vote. During last night's "MDNA" tour stop in New Orleans, we got to hear who Madonna will vote for (any guesses???) and she also encouraged people to participate in the election. I guess people weren't in the mood to talk politics though, because reportedly her little speech drew some boos and even some walkouts. That's pretty amazing, considering those concert tix aren't cheap! So what'd Madge say that got the good people of NOLA so irate?

Madonna isn't one to keep her thoughts to herself, not even during a concert, and last night she reportedly said:

Who's registered to vote? I don't care who you vote for as long as you vote for Obama.

Drawing some boos, she backpeddaled, adding:

Seriously, I don't care who you vote for ... Do not take this privilege for granted. Go vote.

Hm. This is truly bizarre. So there were Republicans at Madonna's concert?! The GOP hasn't exactly been the party of gay or women's rights this campaign (or any campaign for that matter). Hard to believe there are people who like Madonna enough to pony up for tickets and yet be hardcore Republicans. Madonna has long been a gay icon and has always spoken up for gay rights. And, hey, she also did a strip tease for Malala Yousafzai, the 14-year-old Pakastani girl shot by the Taliban because she stood up for girl's rights. An odd way of showing your support, but that's Madonna for ya.

I'm not saying Mitt supporters may not enjoy Like a Virgin or Girls Gone Wild as much as the next Dem, but how do you attend a Madonna concert and NOT know that she's going to be an Obama supporter? This would be like my going to a Ted Nugent concert and being offended when he spouts off about gun owners' rights. Some people really live in a bubble.

Maybe they just wanted to get into the groove and not be bothered with political rhetoric.

Would you have booed Madonna?

This article is breathtakingly stupid.

What a stupid article, Kiri. I have been a Madonna fan since I was a little girl. So has my mother, and we are both registered Republicans. I don't think it's a crazy expectation to not want to be assaulted with Madonna's political opinion when you buy an expensive ticket to enjoy her music. If everyone had to like the person whose music they like, well, then no one would like music. That being said, I think one needs to be prepared for her to say something tasteless when they buy a ticket to her concert...she's kind of a loose cannon.

I go to concerts, plays or movies to enjoy myself. Not to be lectured by a star who tell me that I better vote for Obama.

Nancy View

i would have only because i would have been there to hear her sing, not espouse politics or voting rights. people didn't pay whatever amount of money to listen to her views on politics, they went to see her PERFORM.i doubt people walked out b/c she's an Obama supporter. you would have to be living under a rock to not know she supported him.

It's one thing to show support for a candidate its another to say "It doesn't matter who you vote for, as long as it's for Obama!" No one likes having politics shoved down their throats, nor do they need people like you and the Hollywood elite bashing those who support the other candidate. Shows lack of respect and class and for that you deserve to get booed.

Exactly Nancy View. I don't think people leaving had anything to do with who she supported, since it's common knowledge. It's the fact that people pay good freaking money to go to her concerts and don't want to deal with her politics, regardless of where she and her audience stands. I don't allow my personal beliefs and views on politics determine which celebrities I enjoy, because that's not why I enjoy them, that's just silly! I enjoy them because they are good singers, dancers, actors/actresses, whatever. I don't need to listen to them tell me I'm right or wrong with who I vote for.

so they're clueless for not wanting to live in the United Socialist States of America!? I would say Madonna is clueless clueless to the fact that Obama wants to take HER money and give it away. clueless to the fact that Obama is destroying this nation she's just clueless.

And to answer your question OH YES I WOULD  in fact I stopped listening to her years ago.

I cannot stand when celebrities espouse any political rhetoric. Madonna, Trump, Lindsay Lohan (!), anyone. It's certainly nauseating, but weird to walk out of a performance because of it.
