Kim Kardashian made a big splash with the Halloween costume she donned for the Midori Green Halloween party last night in New York. Dressed as a mermaid, she was not only sexy, but also appropriately dressed for Hurricane Sandy that's ready to wreak havoc on the upper East Coast.
With Kanye West by her side sporting a nautical-themed getup, she told reporters that he could just "sail" her away if the weather gets too rough. Awww.
According to the Washington Post, Kimye didn't actually plan their costumes around the hurricane as timely as they seemed. They had supposedly been planning them for two months, so it was just a happy (or rather, not so happy?) coincidence that the party happened to be on the eve of the storm's predicted landfall. But definitely some nice timing.
More from The Stir: How to Dress Like a Kardashian for Halloween
Reportedly inspired by the 1984 movie Splash, starring Daryl Hannah, Kim sported a shimmery green fish tail skirt that showed off her famous curves quite fabulously. On top she wore a seashell bustier with strands of pearls cascading down into her cleavage.
The most shocking part of her costume, however, was her hair -- a bright blonde wig that flowed down to her hips. It was, if nothing else, a pretty good sign that she should keep her hair dark -- blonde, it does not become her. While it was a fun change for the party, it makes her look about 20 years older, and a bit like Cher ... but not in a good way.
Overall, though, I think Kim deserves props for this year's Halloween costume. It's sexy without being too slutty, and creative without being cumbersome. It plays up ass-sets well, and just so happens to be hurricane friendly. It's a Halloween home run I'd say.
