As a highly devoted fan of Alexander Skarsgard, I've always automatically assumed the Viking vamp would make the best Christian Grey in the Fifty Shades of Grey movie. Because who wouldn't want to watch Skarsgard half-naked on the big screen for 120 minutes?! But something the Swede's True Blood co-star said recently made me realize I was way off base. (Sort of.) Stephen Moyer, a.k.a. Bill (Billith) Compton, is apparently a Fifty Shades fan himself, or at least he sure as hell sounded like one when he compared certain aspects of bondage to fangbanging: "A vampire also treats you with old-fashioned manners, while at any point he could overwhelm you and rip your life away. There's something very sexually exciting about that. Look at Fifty Shades of Grey."
A good point. But that's not what makes me think Moyer might make the perfect Grey ...
See, here's the thing: I don't actually like Christian Grey. As a character. I mean, I get that he's hot and knows his way around a red room of pain, but other than that ... well, he sounds like a complete asshole, quite frankly. Like a broken brat of an insecure boy-man with severe mommy issues. I'm fifty shades of fucked-up, Ana ... come on, get over yourself, bro!! Whiny little bitch.
And while I find it virtually impossible to imagine Alexander Skarsgard as the bitter, damaged son of a "crack whore," I can actually see Stephen Moyer pulling it off. Especially after this last season of True Blood, when Bill went way off the deep end. God complex, dominance fetish ... the dots totally connect!
Which is not to say I don't still very much want to see Alexander Skarsgard half-naked on the big screen for 120 minutes. Make it happen, man.
Do you think Stephen Moyer would make a good Christian Grey?
