Ian Somerhalder 'Prepares' for Christian Grey Role by Building His Own Dungeon

Say What!? 97

Ian SomerhalderNow that the Fifty Shades of Grey movie has a screenwriter, we must be getting closer to an announcement as to who will be cast as Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele, right? And while there seem to be quite a few front runners for both parts at this point, one actor in particular seems fairly confident that he will be offered the chance to be Christian Grey.

Get excited ladies, because Vampire Diaries star Ian Somerhalder is already preparing for the Fifty Shades of Grey movie -- and it sounds like he's already getting into character. While Ian admits that "nothing's official" and the casting rumors surrounding him are "just talk," he's taking steps to make sure his lifestyle mirrors Christian's love of all things erotic.

More from The Stir: '50 Shades of Grey' Movie Details: Here's What We Know (So Far)

Get this one -- he's possibly building a dungeon in his house. Yep, a dungeon. His exact words were:

Yeah, there's a website you can go to where you can just outfit your basement as a dungeon. So, you know, I thought I'd get prepared, just in case.

OMG! As if we weren't already jealous enough of Nina Dobrev, now she may get to canoodle Christan Grey-style with Ian in his personal basement dungeon?!?

I mean, I guess there's always the chance that he was joking, but for the sake of all of us who are drooling over the thought of him as Christian -- let's hope he was being totally serious. (You have to admit, the dungeon thing is pretty hot.)

But whether or not he's going to actually put in a dungeon at his home, the whole "I thought I'd get prepared, just in case" comment must mean that he knows he's a major contender for the role -- and perhaps he even knows something we don't about who is going to be cast?

(Fingers crossed!)

Do you think Ian Somerhalder is a shoo-in for Christian Grey's role?

I think there would be a lot of disappointed women if this man got the role of Christian In this movie! Every women has a perception and an idea of how Christian would look after reading this book, and this guy definitely does not do it for me!

I agree. I just don't think of Ian when I see Christian Grey in my mind. I know we are all on Robert Pattison overload, but there is something about his smoldering eyes that just do it. I think he would need to bulk up to play the physical part, but facially he has it.

Sabrina Casseus

movie characters do not have to look exactly like the characters in the book. ian would make a perfect chrisitan gray

Oh please! He fits the role of Christian Grey PERFECTLY! Have you ever watched him as Damon in the Vampire Diaries? If you have then you would realize this.

Shelly Parr Holland

Oh my gosh, Ian is PERFECT for the Christian Gray role! Anyone who says otherwise has never seen this man at his charming, devious best! He's amazing. Nina! I'm so darn jealous!

I would be on line a week ahead of time if Ian get's this role. If any of the twilight actors are in it however I will be skipping it .

And Robert Pattison doesn't hold a candle to Ian Somerhalder. Robert became famous for his crappy role in Twilight. Horrible casting! No Ian doesn't neet to bulk up. Have you seen him with his shirt off? The books never described Christiian as bulky.

Kimberly Morning

Yes, yes, yes!!! Oh yes!!! Ever since I started reading the books, he was ALWAYS the one that came to mind because of his role on Vampire Diaries. He is SO Christian Grey like on it!! I will say this though, I'm not that happy they are making a movie out of the books...I am more rooting for a mini series on like HBO or something so they could have gone into WAY more detail!

Ian is one of my number one picks for this role, but so is Henry Cavill. If Ian does get the role I wouldn't be disappointed by the choice. I'm over Robert Pattinson as the "tormented" lover type and he is definitely not who I see as Christian Grey.
