Bam! That's the sound of the door that was slammed firmly shut behind Kate Gosselin as CouponCabin fired her today from her job as a blogger for the site. She started the job 11 months ago, and we had such high hopes for her in this role. Then today, with no warning, the gig was up.
On the site where her blog normally appears is a letter from Scott Kluth, founder and CEO of the company. In it he informs readers of the decision to "discontinue Ms. Gosselin's feature blog." He say her contributions have garnered both positive attention and criticism but her run is over. As for why she got the axe, he gets a little cagey.
A series of recent events have made it clear to me that Kate Gosselin and her contributions do not align with the authenticity which we set out to build almost a decade ago, and that Ms. Gosselin is simply not a good fit with the wonderful team and culture at CouponCabin.
A series of recent events, huh? There have been plenty of controversial moves Kate has made over the years for sure, especially during the contentious divorce from her husband and in some of the choices she's made regarding her children. Lately, however, the biggest "scandal" I've noted is her posting a photo of her 11-year-old daughter Maddy in a pair of high heels.

No, not everybody likes her -- in fact, people are having an online party rejoicing over this firing -- but lately, she's been pretty tame. Unless ... the site is freaked out by her whole de-aging superpowers that she recently professed. I mean that is pretty crazy if true, and likely a lie if she isn't some genetic freak, but I don't really see what either has do with her blogging about coupons. It's not like she'd be the first person to lie about a little nip and tuck.
Who knows what the real reason is for her firing. Maybe they have someone hotter and more likable lined up to do the gig -- some like Mama June from Here Comes Honey Boo Boo perhaps? How perfect would she be as a replacement?
As for Kate, she hasn't spoken out about the firing yet, though earlier today she did post a positive tweet that read: "Good afternoon!I'm alive!I've been super busy working away!I'm having lots of fun and can't wait to share! No worries..we will chat soon! XO." Until then ...
