Get ready to throw your left hand in the air and wave it like you just don't care because Beyonce is going to perform the halftime show at Super Bowl XLVII on February 3 in New Orleans. I think I speak for everyone when I say, "KL;SJFASKLDJFWOOYES!!"
Nothing's been confirmed, confirmed -- the NFL is supposed to announce the halftime show news tomorrow -- but a source, evidently, couldn't control their excitement and leaked the glorious information to the Associated Press.
The powers that be couldn't have chosen a better musician for the task, and if you ask me, they had some making up to do after that Madonna fiasco last year.
I know, I know, everyone loves Madonna, etc., but I could not get behind her performance last year. It was like watching your best friend's mom slur her way through a version of sexy "Like a Prayer" at a girls' night karaoke sesh, complete, regrettably, with a lot of leather and a lot of arm veins. I might've been the only one who found her halftime show with LMFAO, Nicki Minaj, and M.I.A. a cringe-worthy mess earlier this year, but I don't think I'm alone when I say that Beyonce is what halftime shows were made for; she's got talent, hotness, and has a low threat of hip injury.
People have already speculated that she'll share the stage with guest stars with whom she's worked in the past, like her former Destiny's Child girls, Shakira, and Sean Paul, but honestly, a) she doesn't need no support up there, she can command that stage all by herself, and b) if there was going to be anyone up there with her, it should be Jay-Z wearing Blue Ivy in a Baby Bjorn.
Beyonce is, in my opinion, the most youthful halftime performer since Britney and N'Sync performed with Aerosmith back in 2001. Since then we've had U2, Sting, Janet Jackson, Paul McCartney, Rolling Stones, Prince, Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, Bruce Springsteen, The Who, the Black Eyed Peas (oh god), and Madonna (oh god, oh god).
No pressure or anything, but I think Beyonce is going to slaughter this gig. Looking forward to it.
Like that Beyonce's (allegedly) going to be the Super Bowl halftime show?
