Oh thank god, our long national nightmare appears to be drawing to an end. After the upsetting altercation between American Idol judges Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey, our country was plunged into dark days, and it seemed we would never see the light again. However -- just when we needed it most! -- President Obama has officially weighed in on the incident. Like any courageous president during a time of war, he's shared some powerful words that are sure to help us all heal and find peace.
If you, like me, have been suffering in the wake of the Minaj/Carey feud, I hope you find solace in President Obama's stirring message of harmony and forgiveness.
Obama has surely been busy lately preparing for the second presidential debate, but he managed to find time to conduct a get-out-the-vote call to Miami DJ Michael Yo's "The Yo! Show" on Friday. That's when he was confronted with the political challenge that's been on everyone's minds lately: could he bring the Idol ladies back together after their recent explosive argument?
Yes he can. According to the President of the United States,
I think they are going to be able to sort it out, I am confident. I'm all about bringing people together, working for the same cause. I think both outstanding artists are going to be able to make sure that they're moving forward and not going backwards.
Okay, I'm just going to drop the sarcasm now and say this: Obama, you know I've got your back, but come on. COME ON, DUDE. I mean, I know he had to field a dumb question from a DJ and all, but couldn't he have just deflected? Maybe said something about being focused on more important matters? Laughed it off? This just sounds silly, especially given the fact that this is the second time he's publicly weighed in on the all-consuming subject of Nicki Minaj on a Florida radio station.
Yay for giving peace a chance and all, but here's the sort of statement that I think might have worked a little better:
Who? Sorry, don't know a thing about it. Focused on jobs.
JUST SAYING.
What's your take? Do you think it was dumb for Obama to weigh in on the Minaj/Carey mess?

huh, he actually said all that??
cool... not only can he try and run a country but he can also be up on pop culture??
and WHO exactly let this DJ ask this question? dont they normally review all questions before hand? so , why exactly is it that he is expected to play dumb and say"i dont know what you are talking about" ??
JUST SAYING is code for I sound like a d-bag and I know it.
lovinallofthem, there are MILLIONS of people with full-time jobs (or those that work) ovetime and have the opportunity to watch an hour or two of television each day. Maybe you've forgot, but President Barack Obama is human, too.
He does this stuff all the time and there are people out there that will vote for him because of this kind of crap and he knows it. He modified a pat answer that could have been used for a lot of different scenarios and worded it to give a dig to Romney.
