Hold on to your handcuffs, ladies, because the Fifty Shades of Grey movie is one step closer to becoming a reality: A screenwriter has been named!!! 38-year-old British writer and producer Kelly Marcel sounds like the right woman for the job, too, and if you've never heard of her before, don't worry -- you'll be hearing plenty in the coming days.
A few facts to get you started: Marcel is maybe best known for working on the Fox series "Terra Nova," though there's been tons of buzz about the script she penned for Saving Mr. Banks, a film about the making of Mary Poppins (currently in production with Tom Hanks starring as Walt Disney and Emma Thompson as "Mary Poppins" writer P.L. Travers). All I know is Marcel must be talented as all get out because the producers speak very, VERY highly of her work:

“We were all taken with the depth and passion of Kelly’s engagement with the characters and world E. L. James has created, and we knew she was the right person to augment our Fifty Shades family," said producer Dana Brunetti, while producer Michael De Luca praised Marcel's "flawless structural technique" and "passionate commitment to emotion, humor and depth of character" in a statement.
Emotion, humor and depth of character?! Hmmm. Maybe this movie will bring Ana and Christian to life in more ways than one. Still, were you expecting a different screenwriter? Or are you more worried about which actors are going to be cast?
Have you ever heard of Kelly Marcel?
