It was only a matter of time: South Park is devoting an upcoming episode to Here Comes Honey Boo Boo -- and if that ain't a match made in heaven, y'all, I don't know what is! Never mind the fact that the entire Honey Boo Boo phenomenon feels like a South Park storyline come to life anyway, or that the animated version of Mamma June is as close to a masterpiece as we've come since the Mona Lisa.
The thing is, the Honey Boo Boo clan deserves to be treated with some measure of respect (you better redneckognize!). Of course we're all going to poke fun, and that's okay, because that's just what happens when you let people with cameras follow you around all day -- but we need to at least snicker at this family with affection.
And that's exactly the spirit of this cartoon Honey Boo Boo spoof. I'm not surprised, either -- the plot is both vintage South Park AND something that actually sounds like it could've happened on Here Comes Honey Boo Boo: 6-year-old Alana Thompson, a.k.a. Honey Boo Boo Child, and Mamma June are going to market, to market to buy a fat "pig with pizazz," because they need its heart for an upcoming pageant (or something?). Plus, Cartman decides Honey Boo Boo is his reality TV rival and decides to stay obese forever.
Maybe that's it -- Trey Parker and Matt Stone legitimately appreciate how entertaining Here Comes Honey Boo Boo really can be. So they made it even funnier. Check out this clip:
Alana makes an adorable South Park character!

No, they I bet they legitimately appreciate the absolute absurdity of it all, so they can use their genius to make us laugh, make them richer, and make an underlying point about society. It will probably wind up being a message about obesity and/or America's obsession with idiotic reality shows.
Hell yes I will be watching it, I love South Park, and I think Matt & Trey are not only comedic genius, they are highly intelligent and understand society and culture on a level that most people just don't get.
