Oh, it was a recipe from diva drama from the get-go, sitting Mariah Carey next to Nicki Minaj at the American Idol judging table. And today, they served up their first heaping helping of explosive action.
According to TMZ, it happened during auditions in Charlotte, North Carolina. When Minaj disagreed with something Carey said about a contestant's performance she reportedly threatened her with violence and said, "I'm gonna knock you out!" And the gloves are off.
Even better -- part of it was caught on tape and leaked by an unknown source. In the footage you can hear an irate Minaj shouting, "I told them, I'm not f*ckin' putting up with her f*ckin' highness over there." So much for family-friendly viewing. You can watch it after the jump.
And they're just getting started. Can you imagine an entire season of them together? Poor Keith Urban; he's in for it in the middle there.
And before you scream "ratings ploy," TMZ reports that "big wigs on the show seem uncharacteristically upset by the blow up." They're reportedly questioning if the decision to have them both serve as judges is going to work out. Also, the two divas truly seem to loathe one another, so I don't doubt they did and will legitimately go after one another.
Personally, I think the powers that be should just sit back and let things play out as they will. This video alone will likely make people more excited to watch American Idol than they have been in years.

I haven't watched American Idol in forever, but I just might. Even though I might get backlash for this, here it goes:
Assuming the rumors were true about Mariah Carey not wanting to work with Nicki Minaj, I'm going to put myself in Nicki's shoes. Obviously, she's the newest person at the table to the music industry and maybe she's having trouble being accepted. How would you feel if you've been given a wonderful opportunity to work with some of the most respected artists in the music industry and one of them doesn't want to work with you? (Keep in mind, Mariah and Nicki have collaborated together in the past) There might be some underlying tension. What many people don't know is that Nicki Minaj can sing.
Nah American Idol has gotten pretty boring for me and I think this is more of a publicity stunt then anything else.
Nicki Minaj, the queen of duckface, has no business being a judge of anyone else's talent period. she needs to develop some for herself before trying to judge other people.

Poor Keith!!!! Yes, Mariah has "earned" her right to be a diva BUT she needs to simmer down. Watching her in past stuff..she thinks her you know what doesnt stink and its quite annoying. You can sing, congrats, but you dont save lives..you're not a hero..get over yourself. However, I do agree with what pinkmani was saying...right off the bat mariah was bad mouthing nickie so she is going to be automatically on the defense. Mariah does have more experience and more of a "righful" place to judge. But nickie is what is current and has been around enough to be able to judge. I'm not a huge nickie fan by any means...but I think she got short changed from the start. If this is what american idol will be..these two cackling back and forth...im out...i'm interested in the young hopefuls...not their fued!
I can't stand Nicki Minaj. I think she's a terrible role model and don't think this is what American Idol is or should be about. Her mouth is full of dirt! We won't be tuning in. ISH!!
