Juuuust in case you hadn't noticed, Fifty Shades of Grey is EVERYWHERE. Now, it's even on TV. No, Lifetime and Oxygen haven't duked it out to spit out a made-for-TV movie inspired by the books ... (Although I wouldn't be surprised if something like that is far off!) Instead, Law & Order: SVU is jumping on the E.L. James bandwagon and has a steamy Fifty-inspired ep in store for viewers on October 10.
But wait, it gets even wilder! In the episode, Anna Chlumsky -- you know, who plays lil' Vada Sultenfuss in My Girl and has more recently starred in USA Network's White Collar and HBO's Veep -- will portray a character inspired by E.L. James. Weird, right?!
Here's what else we know so far ...
In the ep, Chlumsky plays an author like Erika Leonard who has written a "wildly successful S&M romance novel" called 25 Acts. The character ends up getting sexually assaulted by a television host played by Roger Bart. So, in other words, the ep will explore themes of S&M, domination, and you know, the fine -- and frequently debated -- line between being submissive and being abused. Plus, of course, there will be a MAJORLY SHOCKING PLOT TWIST! Oooooh!

So, I confess ... I don't watch SVU, but after reading just the brief, intriguing, scintillating synopsis of what this special October 10 episode is going to be like, I will totally tune in! And obviously, so will many Fifty Shades fans, fascinated by the idea of SVU is going BDSM. Yeah, it could very well be a cheap-ish attempt for the show capitalize on the zeitgeist and boost ratings ... But hey, if it's super-entertaining, so what?!
Will you be tuning in to see this episode on October 10?

I will have to now. Looks good! :)
i will be watching it
I've been watching SVU since it started way back and they often take things from the headlines and make an episode out of it.
She was in two eps of White Collar. Since when is that "starring" on a show? Also, the obsession you have with this book is pathetic. Time to graduate to reading non-crappy books Maressa!
i dont have cable but if i can watch online somewhere i will!
Uh, there is no "fine line" between an S&M lifestyle and actual abuse.
An S&M lifestyle involves a relationship between two consenting adults that has clearly defined boundaries and negotiated safewords. The operational word being consenting.
Comparing S&M lifestyle to abuse is like comparing sex to rape.
