If you were holding your breath and crossing your fingers in the hopes that Robert Pattinson would be cast as Christian Grey in the Fifty Shades of Grey movie, then I'm afraid I have some bad news. According to a new report, Rob supposedly told author Talia Soghomonian that he doesn't think he's a contender for Christian's role anymore. (Whaaaatt?)
He apparently said, "I think the author has written me out of it. I saw some interview earlier and they went, 'Oh, it could never be him'. I'm like, 'Hey, I’m going to make you pay for that!'"
Ha Ha Ha ... Rob is such a jokester, isn't he? But the fact that he doesn't really seem fazed by being written off for the role shows he probably never really cared about it in the first place. And honestly, why would he?

He's already done the whole iconic character thing with his role as Edward Cullen in the Twilight Saga, so why would he want to get involved in another movie that could turn into a potential series? The last thing he needs is to come directly off his Twilight brand and go straight into assuming the part of a dominant in movie after movie after movie, etc.
As far as his career is concerned, it's probably best for Rob to spread the wealth when it comes to his acting talents and take on roles that are a bit more in depth -- and those that aren't born out of erotic fiction. He certainly doesn't need Fifty Shades of Grey to make him the "It" guy in Hollywood, which is obviously something he realizes.
Heck, even E.L. James will probably find his comments about being shunned from the role endearing. You gotta love a man who is ok with letting another actor have the spotlight for a change.
Do you think Rob should forget about Fifty Shades of Grey altogether?
