Did you know that there's a sixth installment of the X-Men film series in the works, called The Wolverine? As you might surmise from the title, it's focused on Hugh Jackman as Logan/Wolverine, who travels to Japan where he engages a mysterious figure from his past in a fight that hurrrrrrrnnnnngh WHO CARES.
I'm sorry, but I cannot possibly focus on the plot of this movie. I do not care that the film will be directed by James Mangold of Walk The Line and 3:10 to Yuma fame. I can't even revel in the awesome news that "Wolverine will be fighting in a different style to what we’ve seen before. There’ll be samurai, ninja, katana blades, different forms of martial arts — mano-a-mano, extreme fighting.”
See, I can't focus on this stuff because the first official image from the movie has been released and all I can say is HELP! HELP! MY BISCUITS ARE BURNING!
I mean, come on. COME ON. Just look at this hotness:
Perhaps you're thinking that Mr. Jackman has been photoshopped beyond all reality into that ripped, veiny vision of mutant-meat. No doubt there's some enhancement going on, but if you check out this current photo, you can tell he really and truly is in shockingly buff condition. Let's just sit back and count his muscles, shall we? One … two … three … okay, this is gonna take a while, someone bring me an iced tea. SO I CAN POUR IT IN MY PANTS.
Getting back to the actual movie, The Wolverine has apparently been in development for quite a while. Darren Aronofsky (Black Swan) was originally tied to the film, but unfortunately for every fan who would have loved to see an Aronofsky/comic blockbuster mashup (*raises hand, waves it wildly*) he withdrew about a year later.
After an epic search for a new director, the studio settled on James Mangold last year, and things have been moving forward ever since. The official synopsis for The Wolverine was released in August, and Mangold has been sharing some intriguing details on Twitter:
Movies I think about as I make #TheWolverine : Eastwood’s Josie Wales, Powell’s Back Narcissus, Hitchcock’s Rear Window, Marnie, Vertigo
Amazing images are being made
Sadly, we've got a bit of a wait to see Jackman in action: The Wolverine doesn't hit theaters nationwide until July 26, 2013. Let's hope the studio releases a few more images before then. His pants look a bit tight in this photo, don't you think? Uncomfortable, almost. Maybe the next image should be more …. relaxed.
Are you a Hugh Jackman fan? Will you be seeing him in The Wolverine?
