OMG. Did you watch the Emmys last night? And if you didn't, did you at least hear that Tracy Morgan passed out on stage and just laid there for like five minutes and nobody even went up to help him?
Yes, of course the whole thing was nothing but a prank pulled by Tracy and Jimmy Kimmel -- who ultimately fooled plenty of Twitter users into thinking that Tracy had actually passed out -- causing them to immediately turn on their TVs to see what was going on and whether or not Tracy was ok.
The fun started when Jimmy told the audience that he wanted to pull a prank on people who were not tuning in for the Emmys last night. He asked for a volunteer to help him out, and Tracy happily obliged and came up on stage.
He then asked everyone at the awards show and everyone watching at home to Facebook or tweet out the following message to their followers in the hopes of getting more people to watch the show:
"OMG. Tracy Morgan just passed out on stage at the Emmys. Turn ABC on now!"
You can see the whole charade in this video clip:
HA! Leave it to Jimmy Kimmel to send out the perfect piece of bait to the social media universe -- who totally fell for the joke since Tracy Morgan passed out for real at the Sundance Film Festival last January.
But honestly, if I'd seen that tweet? I'd have been rushing to my TV to see what all the fuss was about. I mean, it's pretty hard to ignore something as huge as someone fainting on stage when all of Twitter is buzzing about it.
(Bravo, Jimmy and Tracy. Bravo.)
Were you one of the people who believed the Tracy Morgan hype on Twitter and wound up tuning in for the Emmys because of it?
