Divorce is never pretty, but the best you can hope for is that things don't get vicious. When it comes to the divorce of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Adrienne Maloof and her estranged husband, Paul Nassif, those hopes are far, far gone. Things have gotten so ugly that it's downright frightening.
In the latest news, Adrienne has been awarded sole custody of her children after some alleged violent behavior against them by Paul. According to TMZ, she claims that last Thursday during a car ride, two of their three boys were fighting when Paul "choked one of the boys around the Adam's Apple." In the court declaration she also said that when one of the boys peed in the tub while taking a bath, Paul "spanked him hard on the bare bottom and then 'threw him in the corner.'"
She's not the only one making allegations against Paul either.
TMZ says the couple's chef filed a declaration that says Paul kicked the dog after it peed on the floor. Another friend -- who happens to be a DEA agent -- says he saw Paul putting his hands around one of the boy's necks.
It's frightening stuff for sure, and if it's true, then she absolutely deserves custody of those kids, and he needs some serious help. But if it's just all part of Adrienne playing nasty in the divorce -- like his attorney claims it is -- then it's simply despicable. Paul's attorney, Lisa Meyer, told TMZ the whole thing "smacks of underhandedness" and that it's "gamesmanship at its worst."
We could debate all day who we think is telling the truth here based on what we've witnessed of their behavior from our living room couches. But the fact is, we don't know. Like most divorces, it's a big case of he-said, she-said, and the only people who really know what goes on are those two people in the relationship.
Sadly, however, it's not just those two that are affected by this. It's also their three innocent boys who have been dragged into all of this by no fault of their own, and that's the most tragic part of this whole mess no matter who's telling the truth.
Do you think Adrienne Maloof's abuse allegations against Paul Nassif could be true?
