Something unusual happened between Kelsey Grammer and CNN's Piers Morgan on Wednesday night. Grammer was scheduled to appear on Morgan's show but before things even got started, he suddenly shut down the interview. The talk show host took to Twitter to share his confusion about Grammer's dramatic exit, writing, "Kelsey Grammer was supposed to be on my show now but ran out of the building. Strange."
As it turns out, Grammer may have had a very good reason for removing himself from the premises. According to reports, Morgan seriously crossed the line before the show got underway, to the point where Grammer had no choice but to escape.
As Grammer's rep said, "Piers needs to take responsibility for what he did to Kelsey. It's called accountability." I agree. Morgan's actions were absolutely horrifying, and I wouldn't be surprised if this whole thing turns into a giant lawsuit.
Take a look at the utterly shocking image Morgan flashed as the show opened:
SWEET BOTOX'D JESUS OH GOD NO RUN KELSEY RUNNNNN!!!!
Heh. Okay, so I have no idea if that's the exact image Morgan showed, but he did put up a photo of Camille Grammer, Kelsey's ex-wife. Here's what Morgan said about it:
So, Kelsey Grammer saw a photo of his ex wife Camille in the open to our show and legged it. Extraordinary. Never had this happen before.
Morgan went on to say,
I had a very friendly chat with Kelsey backstage. He said he was really looking forward to the interview. Weird ... I like Kelsey Grammer personally, but this was a shockingly unprofessional thing to do. I wasn't even going to mention his ex-wife!
Maybe it was a picture of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star rolling around naked in the $30 million she reportedly got from Kelsey in their contentious divorce settlement? Hey, that's gotta hurt.
Whatever it was, the whole thing makes them both look bad. Piers Morgan comes off like a dirt-digging gossipmonger, because surely Kelsey was there to promote his Starz show Boss and had no plans to chat about his ex-wife -- plus, if the photo was of the two of them in happier times, he may have felt like it was disrespectful to his new bride Kayte White. On the other hand, Kelsey's actions make him look like he has something to hide or, at the very least, like he's too hot-headed to brush off a reference to his past.
I mean, come on, the guy had one of the ugliest divorces in Hollywood history, and he's still taking public potshots at his ex. In fact, he bashed her again just last month on Oprah's Next Chapter, saying that she owed her fame to him. Why would he be remotely surprised that Morgan may have hoped to get a few more nasty comments out of him on his own show?
It'd be one thing if Kelsey had taken the high road all this time, but it's a little ridiculous to act all offended now. Don't want to talk about your personal life? Set the precedent early. Don't go on a show like PIERS MORGAN'S. Otherwise, man up and don't run crying from a photo, you giant bearded wimp.
What do you think about this? Do you think Grammer acted silly, or was he justified in leaving the show?
