Take that, ScarJo and Leo! Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively got married last night at Boone Hall Plantation in South Carolina, just outside Charleston. The couple, who co-starred in The Green Lantern, have reportedly only been together for just about a year.
The scoop on their charming Southern wedding: Sources say there were about 60 people there and that a local restaurant may have catered the affair. Apparently, "Ryan has always loved it [there at the Plantation] and when he got together with Blake, he started to bring her here, too." Cute! Because she's buddies with the bride, Florence Welch of Florence and the Machine played three songs for the happy couple, and Bette Midler performed as well. Of course, their respective families were present. (I hope that means Blake's big sis, Robin, AKA Teen Witch was there!) Another fun fact: The main house was used as Rachel McAdams' character Allie's summer home in The Notebook. So romantic, y'all!
But as sweet as it all sounds, I wonder why they felt compelled to tie the knot so soon? Sure, they've been "playing house" up in Bedford, NY for a while. And yeah, Blake's already been referred to as Ryan's wife (accidentally or not) by cops. But I'd suspect Ryan, at least, has another reason for rushing down the aisle again ...
Because I'm sure it wasn't Blake who piled on the pressure to her divorcee BF. At 25 and considered one of the hottest young actresses in Hollywood, she could have tooootally taken her time here. Maybe even been engaged for a while even. But being that Ryan is now 35 -- and, by the way, his longtime, pre-ScarJo ex Alanis Morissette is already mom to a 1 1/2-year-old -- I wouldn't be surprised if he's itchin' to father a gorgeous brood already!
Hopefully, these two are on the same page about that. Nothing can sink a Hollywood romance like one partner who wants to just start breeding and the other who wants to just keep shooting. But let's give them the benefit of the doubt. Given how his two-year marriage to ScarJo played out, Ryan surely must have learned from whatever went wrong there and aims to do it right this time 'round.
So, fingers crossed it works out for these two insanely gorgeous kids. It would be sweet to see them defy all Hollywood norms and live happily ever after.
How beautiful does this wedding sound?! Are you rooting for Blake and Ryan to make it work?
