Blood may be thicker than water, but as we saw on tonight's episode of The Real Housewives of New Jersey, it apparently isn't thicker than Fabellinis. That's the new cocktail line that Teresa Giudice launched, and who was there to support her at the launch party but Dina Manzo.
Jacqueline Laurita wasn't there as she wasn't invited because even though she and Teresa had made up, she had "hurted" Teresa. “You can’t stab somebody and then try to bring them back to life, it’s too late the person is already dead,” Teresa told the cameras. Caroline Manzo wasn't invited for similar reasons, though Teresa laughably keeps insisting she doesn't hold grudges.
Anyway, while they weren't invited, Dina (who was looking fantastic I might add) was, in what seemed to be a deliberate shot at Caroline. And once again, it appeared that Dina chose Teresa over her sister. As Teresa rattled off all of the reasons why Caroline is so mad at her -- basically the comments in her cookbook that were supposed to be jokes -- Dina seemed to validate everything Teresa felt. "You didn't do anything to my sister to really hurt her so to me it's kind of silly," she said.
When Teresa said Caroline said she didn't want to be her friend anymore, Dina made some snide remark about how she hadn't heard anything like that since fourth grade.
As they fawned all over one another and planned for the rest of their fabulous life together, it felt like one big mutual dig at Caroline. They may have varying reasons, and she may deserve it, but it felt very calculated. As Jacqueline said:
I think it’s nice that Dina went there to support her, but it did seem odd to me when she stayed away from her family for so long, wasn’t at her nephew’s launch party, wasn’t at the holidays, but at a time when it was the most heightened drama going on between Teresa and Caroline, they have gotten closer. It’s like ... really, why?
Only Dina says it wasn't like that at all.
Dina took to Twitter during the show and claimed to be confused by what was seen. She said it was filmed AFTER the fashion show, and things were taken out of context. Finally, she tweeted: "I'm not even going to bother tweeting anymore...I begged them not to be mic'd but was there to support her because she always supports me."
Interesting, but I don't think the details matter as much as her showing up for Teresa when she knows how much her sister loathes her and holds her responsible for their troubles. I'm sure the details don't matter to Caroline, who was uncharacteristically silent on Twitter during this episode.
Do you think Teresa and Dina's friendship is genuine or more of an opportunity for both of them to get back at Caroline? Do you think Dina and Caroline will ever reconcile?
