When the rumors about Emily Maynard cheating on Jef Holm surfaced yesterday, I have to admit to being a little bit worried that we'd possibly seen the last of "Team Jemily." Because typically when Bachelor and Bachelorette couples start getting smeared in the tabloids, the downfall of their relationship usually follows.
Even though the majority of the time the crazy stories cooked up by supposed "insiders" turn out to be false, getting blown to smithereens by the press usually proves too much for reality TV-born romances to take. And I guess that's understandable, considering most of the people who go on the show weren't famous before ABC cast them.
(Fame can be kind of a bitch when you're not used to it.)
Almost as quickly as the cheating rumors surfaced, they were squashed by Jef and Emily, who insist that everything is nothing short of peachy-keen between them. Emily told People that the report is "one hundred percent not true," while Jef fired back at the claims by saying they're "bogus." (Typical Jef, playing it cool.)
And since actions speak much louder than words, Jef and Emily spent yesterday out and about in Charlotte running errands, where they were spotted kissing and looking more affectionate than ever. It's pretty hard to fake being in love when you aren't actors by trade, so odds are good that they are both telling the truth, and the cheating story was just another failed attempt to knock these two off cloud nine.
Of course, just this morning, Jef's own brother told US Weekly that the rumor about Emily cheating on Jef is 100 percent true, so it will be interesting to see if they respond so nonchalantly this time around. And if they do, maybe they should think about pursuing careers in showbiz. If they can take being sold out by a family member, then they certainly know how to stay sane while living their lives in the spotlight.
Do you think the cheating rumors are really true? Are Jef and Emily simply putting on a brave face?
