'50 Shades of Grey' Movie's Newest 'It' Girl May Have Author's Stamp of Approval (VIDEO)

Shailene WoodleyIt seems like every week new names are popping up as possibilities to fill the roles of Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey in the upcoming Fifty Shades of Grey movie. Even though some pretty well known actors are being considered for both parts, there's still the chance that someone who's more of a newcomer will be cast in one or both roles.

And if new speculation put out by The Hollywood Reporter is true, odds are good that the part of Anastasia Steele will go to an actress who isn't a household name. (Yet.) Apparently 20-year-old Shailene Woodley has caught author E L James' eye as a contender for Ana's spot.

Let me guess -- you're asking yourself the same question I did when I heard the name. Who in the heck is Shailene Woodley?

Shailene is best known for her role as Amy Juergens in The Secret Life of the American Teenager, and also for playing George Clooney's oldest daughter in The Descendants. (Ohhhh. THAT Shailene Woodley.)

Ok, so I'll admit that I haven't seen the movie, though it was on my list of flicks I hoped to rent over the summer. And it must have been pretty good, because everyone was shocked when Shailene Woodley was snubbed for an Oscar nomination for her role in the film.

But something tells me if she does land the part of Anastasia Steele, she won't have to worry about being snubbed for anything in Hollywood ever again, because whoever nabs the role is sure to rise straight to A-list status upon the movie's release.

You can check out Shailene's acting skills in The Descendants trailer below.

Do you think Shailene has what it takes to play Anastasia Steele?

She's the first person I could actually see playing that role. I would have NEVER thought of her for it either, I'm so used to her as Amy on Secret Life. Lol

I like her but not for this role...her voice gets on my nerves half the time....While I am reading the second book I keep picturing Lucy Hale...I sure hope they take it seriously and cast a beautiful actress who knows how to act or the movie will be a dud.

I like her a lot, but she isn't what I really picture as Ana, except for maybe the way she talks...  I think the actress from the movie, "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" , would be perfect, not based on her appearance in that movie, but if you Google her, you will see what she really looks like, outside of that  movie.

OK, so not that i'm not a Secret Life fan, but one of the things I love about Ana is her innocence. Somehow it just feels far fetched to have Shailene play this role when her current role is that of a teenage mother. In my head I could see Lucy Hale looks wise but again the characters she's played are so incredibly different from that of Ana. I hope they manage to find a no name actor who's perfect for the role & can make her debut in what appears will be the movie trilogy that might finally put twilight to rest.
