In his latest step to dominate the world, five-time Olympic gold medalist Ryan Lochte has landed a gig on 90210. While he recently voiced his desire to do Dancing With the Stars and perhaps The Bachelor, it seems reality TV isn't going to be a reality for him yet, but a bonafide acting gig will be.
According to People, the 28-year-old smokin' swimmer is going to play himself on an episode of the show that will air October 29. So set your DVRs now ... just don't get too excited. The details are a bit disappointing.
Namely -- he's not going to be in the pool. Rather it sounds like he just bumps into Naomi (AnnaLynne McCord) and Max (Josh Zuckerman) when they're at a resort trying to work on their relationship. You know what that means? No shirtless scenes! Talk about a big bummer.
Sure he's hot with a shirt too, but it would have been so much better if they could have just figured out a way to get him to the water. Alas, it wasn't meant to be. In a statement, producers Patti Carr and Lara Olsen said:
We only wish the episode was a surf event so we could have gotten [Ryan] in the water. But he deserves a little rest on dry land.
Okay, fine, I guess they have a point. And this is likely just the beginning for him and his acting career, so you know there will be plenty of other opportunities for him to take it off.
I'm a little torn in general as to how I feel about him branching out into acting anyway. Part of me wants to think that he's so dedicated to his sport that he would have no interest in a show like 90210, but the other part of me is dying to see what kind of acting chops he's got. I'll definitely be tuning in to find out. How about you?
What do you think about Ryan Lochte landing a role on 90210? Are you disappointed he won't be in the pool?
