Snoop DoggSo it seems that rapper Snoop Dogg has had somewhat of a spiritual awakening as of late. After conferring with a Rastafarian priest, he decided he's not only singing reggae instead of rap, but he also needed a new  name. So from henceforth, he shall be known as Snoop Lion.

I'm not kidding, but I am giggling. He's totally serious though. He explained his decision to reporters on Monday.

I didn't know that until I went to the temple, where the High Priest asked me what my name was, and I said, ‘Snoop Dogg.’ And he looked me in my eyes and said, ‘No more. You are the light; you are the lion.’ From that moment on, it's like I had started to understand why I was there.

Well, good for him, and it seriously sounds like he's made some positive change in his life. The new name is just going to take some getting used to, but I'm sure it will catch on quickly. In fact, the idea of rappers changing their names has been met with much enthusiasm from fans.

On Twitter, there's a hilarious thread going on tagged #UpgradedRapperNames with some brilliant suggestions of alternate names for famous rappers. Just a little tweak makes a big difference. Here are 10 of the best I've seen. Check 'em out:
