Now that he's one of the most successful pros on Dancing With the Stars, Maksim Chmerkovskiy is setting his sights on something much bigger than the ballroom -- acting in a major motion picture. Maks got bit by the acting bug after shooting a guest appearance for The Exes, which actually airs tonight.
Of his big TV debut (meaning something other than reality TV), Maks said, "It was an amazing experience for me to get to work on a sitcom. I met some incredibly talented actors who I greatly admire and respect. I had a great time."
Being on a sitcom may have been fun, but it also sounds like it gave Maks the extra push he needed to take his career in showbiz to the next level. He's apparently interested in going one step further and becoming a movie actor -- and he even expressed his desire to star in the Dirty Dancing remake if he's approached for the role. (Why on earth do they feel the need to remake that movie?)
Maks is such a great dancer and he's definitely easy on the eyes, but I'm just not sure that making the move from the ballroom to the big-screen is the best plan. He's a major hit on DWTS, and it's probably best for his career to be the big man on top on reality TV versus being a little fish in a big pond in the movie world.
But then again, former DWTS pro Julianne Hough seems to have been pretty successful with moving from dancing to acting -- so who knows? Maybe following in her footsteps will make Maks an even bigger star than he ever thought possible. Stranger things have happened, right?
Do you think Maks can succeed in Hollywood as opposed to the ballroom?
