Confession time: you know that "Hey I just met you" meme that's all over the Internet right now? I had no idea what this was about until today, when I read about a singer named Carly Rae Jepsen who's currently dodging a number of salacious nude photo/sex tape rumors. It turns out Carly Rae also sings an annoyingly catchy song called "Call Me Maybe," which was the inspiration for those memes and hey look at me I figured out a pop culture phenomenon all by myself! Aaron Sorkin would be so proud.
Anyway, back to Jepsen's naughty bits and the alleged documentation thereof. Some naked photos surfaced on the web a while back that everyone thought was Jepsen, but it turned out to be a 21-year-old "Internet model" named Destiny Benedict. However, Jepsen has apparently now gone to the police -- because someone stole some real naked photos off her computer. Meanwhile, she's denying her involvement in a steamy sex tape that's circulating online.
Are you following all this? Maybe?
Let's start with the sex tape. Perez Hilton posted screen shots of what he describes as "a young woman who bears a STRIKING resemblance to Carly Rae Jepsen having all sorts of intimate time with a gentleman caller!" (He goes on to add, "Like SERIOUSLY XXX intimate time!" -- you know, in case you thought they were reading the Bible together or something.)
In the name of research, I have studied these images, and I'm forced to conclude that they're too blurry to verify any "resemblance," aside from the similar dark hair and blunt bangs. Also, who knows what's lurking underneath that whited-out circle below the young woman's comically posed O-mouth? Why, it could be a banana, or a snow cone, or any number of perfectly innocent objects that must be deep-throated to fully appreciate.
As for Jepsen, she says the comparison is totes ridiculous:
So who knows about the sex tape, but TMZ is reporting that there really are some nude photos of the singer. No, not the nude photos from earlier this month, but a different set of nude photos that were stolen form Jepsen. Apparently an anonymous source told Jepsen that some incriminating images were hacked from her computer and are now being shopped around to various media outlets -- so Jepsen's team contacted Vancouver police, who are investigating the incident.
All right, so just to recap: Internet nude photos NOT Jepsen, sex tape DENIED by Jepsen, other nude photos MIGHT be of Jepsen. Jeez, if there's one surefire way to boost your fame these days, it's a 'leaked' X-rated photo or video of some kind. I mean, at some point you have to assume that storing naked photos on any kind of device is just asking for publicity -- albeit the sleazy variety. Girl, I just heard of you, and this is crazy, but you need to clean up your image, so keep your clothes on maybe?
Are you surprised by Carly Rae Jepsen's nude photo/sex tape "scandal"?
