'Bachelorette' Emily Maynard's Mom Tries to Ruin the Final Rose Ceremony (VIDEO)

There are a few things we've come to expect during every season of The Bachelor and Bachelorette: over-the-top dates that just don't happen in real life, waaayyyy too many tears, and an incredibly cheesy proposal with an island backdrop.

Well, if Emily Maynard's mom has anything to say about it, we won't get to see either Jef Holm or Arie Luyendyk pop the question to her baby girl. In a teaser to the July 22 final rose ceremony, we see the matriarch advise her daughter to stay single.

To that, all I have to say is, FINALLY! It's about time someone with some sense made an appearance on that show. Usually, all we hear are people blathering on and on about true love, settling down, and finally finding The One.

Well, if there is one thing the franchise's 20 seasons should have taught viewers and contestants alike, it's that those sparks typically don't last much past the finale.

It would be great if the producers started casting a grumpy, naysaying relative to act as the star's sidekick. Someone who would always tell it straight. "He's crazy pants." "That one's a loser." "He'll bolt as soon as you get fat." You know, kinda like a dating devil's advocate. Then we could watch the contestants ban together and plot to take him/her down. How fun would that be?

Watch the dramatic trailer here:

Who do you think Emily should pick? Or is she better off single?

Uh no. Overenmeshed parents should have no say in who their kids end up with. A matriarch is nothing more than an overbearing woman whose kids let her walk all over them. Can parents be right? Yes. Should they get a say? Hell no. People will end up miserable. What potential asshole spouse is going to show their true colors to the parents? None. Even if they did, too bad. Adults make their own choices.

BTW there was a bachelorette who had her mom on the show. It was Tiffany Pollard of "I love New York". Her mom is bat shit crazy, controlling, hypocritical, manipulative, conniving, and all around nasty. Oh and those relationships didn't last either if her daughter picked the one mommy liked.

I think she should go back to Sean. If not, then she should be single.

I wanted Emily to pick Sean. I don't think that she is going to pick either of them. On the final Rose, maybe she will have Sean there to pick him, but he did an interview and said that he isn't for Emily now. Will have to wait till Sunday night.

She would be crazy to pick Jef. He is still a kid.

She said that she could see him in everyday life with her and Ricki.

Why is it that if Emily ends up choosing no one that people will be happy for her, but when Brad decided against proposing to one of two girls that he didn't love, that made him a jerk? Just saying....I'm with the others...I would have chosen Sean for Em.
