The world lost an amazing soul today, as Nora Ephron died at the age of 71. Her son Jacob Bernstein told The New York Times the cause of death was pneumonia brought on by acute myeloid leukemia.

Ephron had an amazingly diverse career and wore hats as a writer, a blogger, a playwright, and of so many other professions as well. It's the films she wrote and directed, however, for which she's best known -- iconic films like When Harry Met Sally, Silkwood, and Sleepless in Seattle.

Her movies contain some of the most memorable scenes of all time. One of my all-time favorites is the "baby fish mouth" scene from When Harry Met Sally, which became an ongoing inside joke during college, so much so that my friends shouted it as I walked across stage to get my undergraduate diploma. I don't remember what our joke was about exactly, but the scene I'll never forget. Here it is, along with four other great scenes from Nora Ephron films:

From Sleepless in Seattle, this next one shows the perfect ending atop the Empire State Building that does me in no matter how many times I see it.

Clearly Ephron knew how to do strong endings, because this one from You've Got Mail is a classic as well.

It wasn't just happy, light endings she did well either. The final scene of Silkwood, with Meryl Streep singing "Amazing Grace" as her character, Karen Silkwood, dies is nothing short of haunting.

And because no list would be complete without it, I've got to end with the infamous orgasm scene from When Harry Met Sally. Without it, men may still be in the dark.
