On the surface, Teresa Giudice was all forgiveness and goodwill when it came to her family tonight on The Real Housewives of New Jersey. She called up Kathy Wakile to have lunch and catch up; she caved and said she'd go to therapy with Joe Gorga; and she even forgave Melissa Gorga.
Some big steps for sure, but the reason she was making them was suspect at best. All of her niceties were more like a completely obvious and desperate attempt to keep at least someone in corner after she offended and alienated her very last (and very faithful) friend -- Jacqueline Laurita.
She needed someone on her side, so it was back to the family she's begrudged for so long. Kathy realized it right away. "Ding, ding, ding!" indeed.
More from The Stir: Real Housewife Teresa Giudice Stands Alone
I suppose that's what family is for to some extent -- to always be there for you -- but you can only attack them so many times before even they don't want you. Also, Teresa's actions tonight felt so fake and self-serving that you have to wonder if the real problems will be addressed. For example, though Teresa agreed to go to therapy, she told the cameras she's going with hopes that her brother will realize HE has a problem. Sigh.
She virtually no self awareness, evidenced especially well toward the end when she said that everyone else has changed, but she's remained the same ... well, except she's become more understanding. Uh huh.
At least Jacqueline finally saw through her bullsh*t. You could tell that after days of crying over their big blow up, Jacqueline was really hoping to smooth things over. Then Teresa started attacking her and twisting things, and Jacqueline finally had it. "F*ck you!" she told her. "Now I see why everyone f*cking hates her," she told her husband.
Meanwhile, Teresa told the cameras that Jacqueline is a "psycho bitch"and that she should have punched her in the face.
Melissa was gracious, and even though she saw through Teresa's motivation, still said they'd be there for her no matter what. That's pretty darn big of her, as was admitting she was wrong in the whole Danielle Staub drama from two years ago. Teresa said she was going to forgive her, but of course, didn't apologize for anything she'd done. I loved the look on her face when Melissa told, "Just be normal." Tall order there for Teresa, I think. I can't wait to see what the therapist thinks of her next week.
Maybe Teresa's motivation for making nice doesn't matter as much as the end result. If she can successfully reunite with her family, that would be great for Teresa, but more importantly, for her kids. I fear, however, that the chances of any kind of peace actually lasting are about as low as Juicy Joe's class.
Do you think a reconciliation between Teresa and Joe and Melissa Gorga will last?

Don't think it will last too long. Feel sorry for her brother to have such a horrible, self-centered sister, who is jealous of his wife, who I feel is a very nice person. Sorry for her children to have to be raised by a mother (and father) who really know nothing about being good, caring, respectable and honest people. All her lying will get her into more trouble all the time. Family will always be there for you, so she should learn how to cherish her family much more. Jealousy is ugly!!
Well it's pretty obvious Teresa is a sociopath, is extremely narcissistic, and has advanced anti-social personal disorder. The playing nice or making up all is for her benefit. She cannot see any of her wrongs and in her mind/world everything, and I mean everything in the world revolves around her and her wants/needs/desires. Her children are also simply pawns and items for her use in her life to get what she wants. Look up the symptoms/descriptions of the above and then tell me if you can say that Teresa is not trully mentall ill. It's not an excuse or pass to act the way she does, in my opinion she is so sick she should be severly medicated and be restricted from society.
The only reason Theresa is making nice nice with her "family" is because she has burned through all of her friends. They all are onto her and are tired of her BS. Speaking of BS ANDY since when did Theresa start running the show, everyone needs to ask her permission to be on the show, what they are allowed to do on the show and who can and can't be friends on the show! What kind of dirt does she have on Bravo for her to get away with such a disgusting display of being a power hungry controlling B*&%$!?!
Team Melissa!!! :)
Like the old saying goes "Home is where you go to and they have to take you in". It will last as long as it fits what Theresa needs. At least the rest of the family knows they're all being used.
I don't think there will ever be a happily ever after with Teresa with anyone. First time someone disagrees with Teresa or calls her out on anything that will be it. The reunion should be interesting this time. I'd like to see them tape her mouth shut so she can't interupt, talk over and yell at the others!
