Justin Bieber Gets Ripped by David Letterman for Being Dumb (VIDEO)
Is Justin Bieber stupid or what? That's what David Letterman seemed to be wondering as he ripped into The Biebs for calling the Sistine Chapel, "the Sixteenth Chapel." Well, okay. It was a silly remark. The Sistine Chapel is one of the most famous monuments in the world, and its ceiling is one of the most, if not THE most important and famous frescoes in the world, painted by Michelangelo. We all know that, right? A 5-year-old would know that, right? Right?!! But let's cut Justin some slack here. Does Dave know who Carly Rae Jepsen is? Huh, huh? Okay, not quite the same thing.
It all started when Justin sat down with Letterman for an interview. Letterman ripped into Biebs for having "another" tattoo. "That'll be the last one, right?" he scolded. Justin didn't take the bait, so Letterman added, "Your mother can't be too pleased with the tattoo."
He then made a joke about Justin's arm beginning to look like the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel, to which Justin sheepishly replied, "I'm not going for the Sixteeth Chapel." With expert timing, Letterman waited until the audience stopped guffawing before quipping, "Canadian high school."
The whole thing was pretty funny -- and Justin took it well. Until the last moments, when he looks genuinely put-upon. But, come on, at 18-years-old, are you supposed to know every fact in the world? Or even at 35-years-old? Justin and David are going to have vastly different points of reference.
High school educates, but it also, hopefully, lays the foundation for a person to make a living doing something he or she is passionate about and good at. And Justin is already doing that. Is it so horrible that he doesn't know The Sistine Chapel? Besides, he probably knows it (I hope?!), he just wasn't sure of the name of it. Lots more important things in the world to be concerned about it.
At Justin's age, I moved to the United Kingdom for a semester of college. I went to a very good high school, and yet somehow it escaped my knowledge that the U.K. was an island, and not part of Europe. I probably didn't know the Sistine Chapel either. I did know who Madonna was, though, so there!

Ok that was dumb. Dave has no right to judge, didn't Dave has some sexual encounters with some chick he worked with???? I like Dave but he needs to keep parenting advice to himself really. I also believe if you sport a tattoo be prepared to explain what it means, I hate hate people who act all "whatever" about their tattoo, just say I don't know why I got it.

I miss the days when Letterman was genuinely funny, not abusive and always trying to make his guests look stupid. He seems to do this a lot, rather than being classy and just glossing over it.

And maybe he was just nervous and pronounced it wrong. My man gets like that at restaurants and drives throughs, and then he orders weird things like black frost ham and snap wracks ;)

I just asked my six year old if he knows what the Sistine chapel is and he said "That's the one with the painted ceiling right? The really famous one?" Guess it just comes down to what you value. I'm raising my kid to be smart, not famous.
