Hugh Laurie in 'RoboCop' Will Make 'House' Look Like a Bunny Rabbit (VIDEO)

hugh laurieFull disclosure: When the original RoboCop made its big-screen debut in 1987, The Princess Bride was my favorite movie. (In some ways, it still is.) In other box office news that year, Dirty Dancing both repulsed and intrigued me. I was an 11-year-old girl is my point, and RoboCop was something the annoying boys in my class at school were obsessed with -- I personally had no interest in anything that was part man, part machine, and all cop (or whatever it said on the poster).

I would probably feel the same way now about the upcoming RoboCop remake, but now that Hugh Laurie has reportedly signed on to play the villainous CEO of Omni Corp? Let's talk about RoboCop! Hey, this could be just the fix I need ... starting to go through serious House withdrawal over here!

Anyway, RoboCop fan or not, I've got to say that the casting sounds brilliant ...

Hugh Laurie as an evil genius? Hmm, I wonder if that would work. More like, I wonder if any role could be more perfect. We know damn well Laurie can play a "bad" guy -- as a BAD guy, he's bound to be even more dastardly and delicious.

The CEO of Omni Corp was originally played by the late Irish actor Dan O'Herlihy, who could definitely turn on the creepy -- I'm sure die-hard fans will miss him in the update.

But I'm also sure that Hugh Laurie will blow audiences away with his performance. Has he been anything less than spectacular?

Check out the original RoboCop trailer and tell me:

Do you think Hugh Laurie is a good fit for the RoboCop villain role?

I can never get over how he has an english accent that you CANNOT hear in House....and its crazy he switches back and forth so easily.

Hugh Laurie is the ultimate talent in anything he touches. I have practically everything he has done and can't wait for more. Love, Love, Love, that man.
