'16 and Pregnant' Finale Special Recap: Kristina Is Moving WAY Too Fast

This season of 16 and Pregnant was one of the most heart wrenching and the worst of the girls was Kristina, the one whose fiance died after being swept out to sea in an undertow.

It was a nightmare story and anyone would love to see her happy. But she is engaged again. Just a few months after her fiance was killed! Apparently that has put her on bad terms with his family (his brother was married to her aunt) and who could blame them?

She is engaged again just months after losing her fiance and having a baby. It seems way too fast. She is not the only one, either.

There were Briana and Sara, the single moms and then there were the other ones who are still with their baby daddies. Worst of all, perhaps was Alex, whose baby daddy is a drug addict (as we saw clearly on the show) and could not even come on the show because of a "legal issue."

Who even knows what that is, but one thing is clear: Count on being a single mom if you get knocked up at 16 and go from there. Don't make your decisions with a boy in mind because chances are, he will leave.

It is depressing and disheartening to see girls like this. In my life, the only young girls I know are educated, driven and ambitious. If they were pregnant at 16, they would not choose to have it.

So it is a different glimpse into a different kind of life for me. I don't understand it. I don't get how any girl could choose to alter her life at such a young age. As a mom, I know how hard it is and I can't imagine having done it any younger than I did at 28. And where I am from, 28 is very young to be a mom.

If any of these girls were my daughter, I would want them to think long and hard before choosing to have a baby with a teenage boy. It is sad and depressing and no matter how much we say, "not every girl is a statistic," we also know the statistics don't lie. These girls have an uphill battle. And they could have avoided the whole thing so easily.

First of all not EVERY woman that gets pregnant at sixteen is a single mother. I was a teen mom and am now married and my kids have a great dad and we both have awesome jobs with great salaries. Just because YOU think you couldn't do it any youngethence 28 is YOUR opinion. And Christina is her own person who can make her own decisions. This is the worst article I have ever read and will NOT be coming back to this website!!! How dare you say the smart girls didn't keep their babies! What a load of crap!!!! Some of us actually took responsibility for our actions!!!!!!

Now, now, Sasha, you wrote very insistently in another blog that pro-choice doesn't mean pro abortion. And yet here, you're clearly pushing and advocating for abortions, Sasha. I thought pro-choice meant, you know, the woman gets to choose. You don't like it when a woman makes "the wrong choice"? That seems to be what feminists do; they claim to be all about choice and all, yet when a woman makes a choice to stay in a traditional gender role, she's mocked, or her husband/boyfriend is demonized.

lol I don't know where you are from that 28 is still a little young to be having babies. I do agree that 16 is not the right age. I guess it just all depends on who you are.

I agree with the author that 16 is entirely too young to have a child and for Kristina she has the unfortunate situation to have lost her fiance and is trying to deal with her grief so being pregnant has only made that situation worse. Teen pregnancy is avoidable and while many here say they are teen moms, the outcome for most is dismal. The show 16 and Pregnant is great for teen boys and girls to watch as every single episode ends with the girl saying she wish she would have waited and her life is changed for the worse forever, it is very powerful.

Yes we get it your pro choice and thats great but before you go promoting abortions why dont you get one and let us all know how your feeling and dealing with the guilt that most certainly comes with an abortion or better yet tell us about the score of dead babies you have already left in your wake. They should have used protection, they should have not been having sex, they should have had parents that paid attention, etc etc but the fact is they didn't and they will live a hard enough life and pay for their choices. They should get support not be mocked and made fun of, hopefully they can find some better role models and get their life straight and avoid the cycle further.

I read quite a bit on this site and have been offended before. But everyone is entitled to their own opinion. However your opinion is not an opintion. Its a stereo-type. Young mother's aren't smart? I got pregnant at 18 and had my daughter at 19. I had graduated high school with very good grades. I had a job. I fell in love with a man who was more than not right for me or my daughter. For the past FOUR YEARS I have raised her with little help from her father who has been in the picture. After he continuously walked out, I have given up. Now he is no teenage boy. He is currently 27. So while he may not be an old man he is old enough to know better. I have seen true teenage fathers be better parents than he is. I am a single mother, working six days a week, attending school, with a happy, smart, well taken care of three year old daughter. I will NEVER call her a mistake, however I did decide to wait before having more children. My life is not easy, but I don't let it stop me. No parent has an easy life. And 28 being a young age to become a mother where you are from? WHERE THE HECK ARE YOU FROM? I'm sure it must not be planet earth.

I was a teen mom 22 years ago and frankly your article was offending to ALL teen moms. Most of us, had our babies WHILE going to school and continued to do so after baby arrived. I was back to high school 5 days after my sons birth to turn in homework and get more. I know most teen moms are judged on a daily basis on their decision to parent. Anyway you chose is not an easy road. I know a lot of women who had babies as adults who's husbands left them or boyfriends took off. They are decent, EDUCATED women who would have never seen it coming. I also know some teen parents who are still married or like me were married for over a decade. My ex didn't jump ship and abandon his kids until his late 20's because of his mental illness. Judging is a dangerous territory, everyone has different situations. Different variables make up our society.
To imply that teen mothers are not educated is ignorance on your part. I know plenty of teen moms that went on to get Master's degrees and I went on to get AA then a Bachelor degree later. So please spare us the judgements and the pity. Give us support instead!

As a young mom (18 when I conceived, 19 when she was born) I find this extremely offensive! I bust my ass every day to take care of my daughter and do so without her father being in the picture. Choosing to have a baby does NOT eliminate any possibility of a future, it just means you have to work a bit harder. I smell some serious pro-abortion antics in this article. To me it sounds like Kristina is just trying to make sure her baby has a dad in their life and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that!
